Dear Hanse owners,
I am once again here looking for savvy and experienced advice.
When we bought our Hanse 350 (2008) the engine blower/extractor was burnt.
Las Summer I replaced the piece for the same kit that we had in the engine compartment. We ordered an Atwood turbo 3000.
I assumed it was the one fitted originally.

It works beautifully, it was easy to mount, and has lots of extraction power.
It is however REALLY noisy. I would say more than the engine itself to a point where every time we turn it off we feel a big relieve.
Do you have the same issue?
Has any of you a silent extractor on board? What brand/model ?
Thank you!

On my H355 (2011) I have no extractor fan at all.  So it's very silent.
Unless you're sailing in too warm waters, why do you need one ?

Hi Brufan.
I thought I was ok too, but the temperature of the alternator started melting the thermal and acoustic isolation film of the engine compartment...
The boat was fitted to sail in the Mediterranean, si I guess it was needed in the end.

Cheers!

Hi can anyone supply any info on the wiring for the engine bay extractor. Never thought about it until this post feed! Going to the Med summer 26 so now wondering if it’s needed.

Hi there!
Mine was wired to the contact key in the engine pannel.
It runs anytime the engine is on, unless you turn the jey off. The engine still runs but the blower stops (needed if you are tired of the noise).
Enjoy the Med!

Hi Pack, our blower failed two years after commissioning (2008-2010), never replaced it. The motor sucks (a lot of) air from the motor room and the interior of (the back of) the boat. In fact the fan competes with the motor for air. I guess it's more a compliance issue than a usefull addition.
I did read the comments on overheating dynamo's, but that could IMHO be a problem with too high and continuous loads; the standard dynamo is rather small and has no fan. I replaced it with a much heavier one with a fan, as I use it sometimes to top up my 400Ah LiFePO4 bank (mostly done by 400Wp solar).

regards, Rob
