What manufacturer and type is your present wheel pilot and are you intending to replace the whole system, or just part of it?

I have just replaced the drive system on my Raymarine wheel pilot, which was not the factory fitted item.

Hi Martin
Thank you for your reply
It is a simrad WP 32, which is the original system Hanse used when the boat was built in 2004. Spares No longer available since simrad does not do wheel pilots any more.
The plastic belt in the unit , however , is a standard item and available on the internet. I found teeth missing in it and ordered a replacement . I hope I can get the unit to work again after the exchange . (The effect of the steering  jamming even when not using the wheel pilot was a bit scary!)
Best regards to whoever reads this

A point that puzzled me for a bit the first time I did some work on the wheel pilot, is that the cover that allow you to access the belt had to be aligned in a very specific way for it to fit correctly.

Our pilot jammed just as we approach the ferry terminal.  It could have been interesting for a few minutes.
