Hi guys,

one our our portlight handles near the galley has become detached and needs to be reglued back into place. Does anyone have any positive experiences in doing this and can recommend a suitable adhesive (so many choices...)

Thanks

Those are likely Lewmar port lights so the handles are SCREWED in place. Did the entire handle come free along with the latching portion or did it break in two, leaving the latching cam on the glass.

One of our portlight handles has also come off. The glue failed and the whole thing detached from the window. I tried twice to reattached with two pack epoxy without success. So I would be interested in any suggestions as well.

Lewmar are only glued in my 342. Same problem with handle above the galley. Heat from stove appears to cause differential expansion (unavoidable unless you remember to always open the portlight) Same as above, I tried to glue many times then resorted to glue and bolting

I've used this adhesive on 3 portlights to reattach handles that have fallen off. 2+ years and still going strong. It's an Australian brand which may be difficult to source however I imagine there are readily available equivalents.

Thanks all for your helpful feedback.  The handle detached completely, and this happened before for the previous owner. I am cleaning up the old adhesive and will try initially with the structural adhesive.  Will let you know how it goes.

regards

Andrew
