Has anybody integrated a portable power station into a 458 instead of choosing a portable generator- any tips. Thinking of buying a BLUETTI portable power station.

I got a 1Kwh Ecoflow Delta2 some seasons ago for my H400 as I dislike petrol onboard and I was too cheap to go for an enlarged lithium battery system. Its revolutionised life away from marinas, charging quickly from solar or alternator. Although its capable of heating the hot water tank or recharging the electric outboard you need to plan what you want from each charge for such heavy usage. In normal use, its surprising how much power laptops, phones and pads can consume but its been great to be able to run the TV and use an induction hob thus saving gas which has sometimes been hard to find anyway.

I secure the unit midships to help with balance but its useful to be able to shift it around as required. Although its not as neat a solution as going for a dedicated lithium battery bank, its vastly cheaper, much simpler and it provides a totally independent source of power, storing 'wasted amps' when the domestic batteries are fully charged. Although I haven't felt the need, capacity can be doubled with a slave unit (can I use that phrase these days?!?). You can also use it away from the boat.

Choice of unit depends on your needs and likes; I chose the Ecoflow but I'm sure the Bluetti is just as capable. Prices have tumbled in the past couple of years.

I bought one of the original Delta’s when they first came out for a home backup. I traded it in last year for a bigger one for the house. I didn’t want to take it on the boat because it was the old NMC chemistry. The new ones are LiFePo.

How do you integrate it into your boat’s electrical system? I always figured it would just be nice to have for charging up all of the portables like phones, iPads, etc. with recharging taking place at the dock on shore power.
