Dear firends,
I am about to order carrying piece for gangway self-made from ladder and bangkirai wood. It has T-shape, horizontal part is connected to ladder and vertical part is pin to be inserted in the bathing ladder hole, one nearer to middle of the boat.
I have problem determining length of that pin, since have forgotten to measure depth of b. ladder fixing hole, and I am 500km away of the boat.
I need help from somebody who is, at the same time:
a) Owner of Hanse 350
b) Near to or on the boat
c) Willing to measure depth of the bathing ladder fixing hole and to send to forum or to me as private mail.
This is the hole which depth should be measured:
And this is the gangway, in use in Vela Luka, Korcula, Croatia.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, Clivian!
Thanks, but it is not so practical as it looks nice. I have to fold it during sailing to make space for boom free moving.
Anyway, if you like, I could send you more photos to personal address.
Terry, it would be very good decision. Cost is beautiful, thousand of islands, see is fantastic, lot of spots of unspoiled nature. Marinas are very good, try for beginning ACI ( http://www.aci-club.hr/ - http://www.aci-club.hr ), they have excellent places.
Bit crowdy during July and August, but still enough sunny and warm in September or pre-season.
Just type in "crotatia sailing" or "adriatic sailing" and search will give you million of www sites.
Still nobody to help me? My time is running out, I have to go to some sailing end of next week, it would be good to have proper gangway.

I suppose there is no difference between a 320 and a 350. That's how it looks like, outside and inside.

I have now measured my 350, and can confirme that it is 6,1 cm! Good luck! Are you happy about your liferaft posision? I would really have it somewere else but it is realy not possible to have it elsewhere. I have seen the one on this forum putting it on the "bading platform" but, I get problems both with the shore-conections and the folding badingplatform...

It was nightmare to install it, entire large GRP cover in front of sprayhood has to be removed. Cover is glued with sikaflex on couple of places, some of them were hidden. It took whole day to mount it, done by professionals!
I have now problem that I cannot fully slide entrance plexi under that cover. Bolts for fixing liferaft frame, screwed trough cover, are to long, obstracting sliding of plexi plate. I am thinking about cutting it to two pieces, hope it wont be to long then.
As you said, no other place is better than this, nevertheless this is not good enough, at least acc to my opinion. I was not enthusiastic to make holes in left aft part of the transom, there are some cables inside and place si limitetd, so it would be very tight. Of course, shore connection socket must be moved in that case, which I didn't like as well.
Now, that's it, I have it on place, hope I will not check is it the best one.

Hi Sloba,
Have you (are anyone else for that matter) tried using the ladder to climb aboard. On our 350 #144, when folded down the bottom rung is only about 4 cm below the water line. This makes it less than useless unless you are a gymnast!

let ours down for the first time last week and one of the nuts and bolts holding the lower part fell off and disappeared. Check them as I thought they were meant to be nylon locking nuts.

Ha, ha...
With my 110kg it is always new experience...
Of course, bathing ladder is good just for catalog pictures, but when you try to climb from the water: disaster!
I hurt my leg during my May trip from Tenuta (near Trieste) to Bar (Montenegro), so it was even more fun. I was thinking about installing davits
Generally, I am satisfied with my new boat, but here and there are some minor problems. I am solving it by myself or with a help from my dealer, and I have to admit that he is OK (F. Schwaiger from Schwaiger Nautic, Austria).
What is annoying is that there are some stupidities like that bathing ladder, or like storage compartment below front seat in salon (I have 2-cabin version). It cannot be opened (flap cover) without moving entire salon bank cushion from port side.
Anyway, boat is nice, comfortable, speedy and I like it. Hope I will not discover to much new problems.

While on the subject, you should check http://www.myhanse.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1164 - this thread out. This clever Swedish Hanse sailor has made his boat even more safe by renaming the "swim ladder" the "Safety Ladder".

Hello, Johan!
Nice done, but I have reason to leave free holes for fixing bathing ladder.
Left hole, looking from behind, one nearer to cockpit entry, will be anchoring point for gangway, so I need to have opportunity to move out ladder and fix the gangway.

Hi Sloba,
We have the 2 cabin version as well, ours has the bathroom at the stern. It is amazing the different little things people notice and get back to the dealer about. Things like the cushions not fitting are just bad design, not using the Velcro material on the reverse of the cushions is penny pinching. We just got our ladder extended last week, as it is safely requirement for racing here. But yet to see who will pay for it! Under Irish law’s an item ‘must be fit for the purpose for which it is intended’.

I found that coming up the metal bathing ladder was a bit of a problem as unfortunately my foot slipped off the rung through the ladder - IT HURT!!!!!
This season I have wrapped rope around the rungs - much better - now non slip - looks ok as well.
Also makes getting hold of the ladder a lot easier as your hands do not slip if you have been in the water.

The ladder is indeed to short, I will ad another 2 steps this winter. With regard to the storage of the liferaft, we use the port locker, ok, I don't have a GRP cannister, but a 4P valis but this fits perfect in the port locker.

Hi,guys!
I am typing this from lovely spot on the Montenegrian coast. No lights arround closer than 5 miles, perfect evening. Only small caffe on the shore, with wireless access point, free of charge
After 10 days of sailing, status is as follows:
Stainless steel fitting (holes) to fix bath ladder get lose, so ladder is not
stable. Looking from inside and below, behind aft cabin, fixing screews are to short, and therefore not strong enough to keep ladder holes in place.
I have to take out self tapping screews, and put another washer and nut, longer.
Gangway works, but it is not stable because everything is lose.
Boat is constantly inclined to port side, nevertheless we have straightened the mast again. I am not sure why, there is no extra weight on that side.
My bathroom is aft. We have tested it as bathroom, not only as toilet. Everything is fine, except draining hole is higher than it should be (because of boat inclination), so it is not possible to drain it completely. Filter of draining pump get clogged very soon (probably not cleaned in the factory from working debris), but it is very easy to clean it.
Ladder is to short, definitely. I have to make it longer. In doubt that anybody else will pay for it except me.
One idiot punched us today running with his motorboat in reverse. Luckilly it was not to strong, hit directly to bow. Gelcoat is damaged, but structure under remained not affected. Fixed with two-component first aid epoxid paste.
Some people should stay at home all the time.
When I get back, I'll try to post some pictures.

The screws on the ladder holes are no good at all. Very easy to replace with bolts and washers instead. Hanse factory please note - would only cost you an extra Euro.
We used this as the pivot for a gangway for a while. It doesn't work all that well unless the dock is very low. We ended up adding a bracket to the back of the rear cockpit seats. That works a lot better.
See several shower posts on this site for draining and filter issues and solutions.
Getting your first knock on your boat is just a way to launch her. We were amused because on our hand-over trip the first dink was done by the Hanse rep. He couldn't understand why we laughed rather than being angry. It is just that my wife and I had been betting which of us would make the first dink.
Enjoy the boat.
