Hi All,

Anyone organising a My Hanse set of teams for this event?

Anyone want a ride on the day and can get over the night prior?

Swagman needs crew good at offwind helming, trimming or foredeck.

Cheers
JOHN

Mate, if I'm in the country, which might be a possibility for a wedding, then I'll give you a hand.

Grey Goose will be there again!
I am sure there must be other Hanse owners planning to enter - aren't there?

John or anyone,
If you need crew I am up for it; Gertha will be at the other end of the UK , so not joining in.
If more crew is needed I know a few others who could be draged down.

64   Nellie ISC5C - 2nd in class
116 Swagman ISC4A - 10th in class
135 Jodeanni ISC7B - 8th in class
175 Pean II ISC7C - 18th in class
191 Scorpio ISC6C - 11th in class
200 Elysium ISC4A - 18th in class
220 Cloudy Bay ISC6C - 17th in class
230 Harry ISC4A - 20th in class
296 Highflight ISC5C - 20th in class

520 Serefe ISC2B - 39th in class
524 Csardas IRC2B - 40th in class

Suggest best teams are those blocked by 3's.
So I will try to track back those other two in my group and see if they are happy to run in a team with me.
Can I suggest if you are in another group of 3 - you do the same.

If nonoe of us are sorted into a team by say month end, we can regroup (so to speak ), shuffle up and do it again.

Mr Hanse UK...........are you there?
If you want good news to help you sell more boats in these troubled times - might be an idea to help out in supporting these teams.  Even help getting them set up would be appreciated.

Cheers
JOHN

For the first time since 2001 we are going to miss the RTI this year as we are planning to enter the http://www.biscaychallenge.com - Biscay Challenge which starts the previous Saturday.  This means that we will hopefully be recovering from the post race party in Hondarribia when you are sailing the RTI.

Good luck to all the Hanse's participating...

Hi Ed,

Good luck and we'll dial you out of a RTI team.

Scotchmist.  Sorry if not clear.  All I meant was the first three placed Hanses from 2008 (if we are happy to race as a team of 3) should have best chance of a team prize.  Next three from 2008 have next best chance etc.  Like A team, B team etc.

With at least Scorpio out we can remove him from the list and shuffle the others up.....and as I said, if we've not got sufficient interest by month end we can regroup so as to ensure Hanse have the best representation possible.

So as my B Team include us, Jodeanni and Nelli - does anyone know how I get in touch with those other boat skippers to see if they are up for it this year?

If you take on contacting your fellow A Team of White Mischief and Wight Leopard etc.

Someone from C Team - either Pease, Elysium or Cloudy Bay (now Scorpio's out) take charge of those three etc....

Cheers
JOHN

What about boats that didn't take part last year? - I had to miss it, sadly, last year.
We sail in ISC4C. In 2006 we were 2nd in class, 4th in division and 10th overall, followed in 2007 by a more sobering 18/48/484!! Hardly consistent, sadly, but the conditions on the day tend to favour some particular sizes/weights more than others, it seems, despite the handicapping.
I wonder if Hanse UK (or whatever they are called now) can assist in contacting the various owners? Perhaps by e-mailing owners direct (to avoid data protection issues) and invite everyone interested in team participation to register on here by a certain date?

Hi Jof,
Great to hear you could join in - with that first year set of credentials maybe slot into A Team if last years three are not available?
I've taken your suggestion andcalled Hanse and see if they can do a round robin email to chase up entries sending each to the site.
Phil is in tomorrow and they'll put it to him then.
Cheers

Hi All,
Hard nix from Hanse so prior to giving them some greif, I accessed the RTI site to get update info on how we sort teams.
Can't find a thing.
So please excuse all my prior ramblings - should have found out they've dropped teams for 2009 - and wish you all thebest on the day.
We'll be getting over early to try and secure a spot on Sheppards for Friday night - any others there feel free to say hello and share a cleansing ale.
Cheers
JOHN

Roll up Roll up - 20 Hanses so far. Plenty of room for a few more. Nice to see we've already got a selection of challengers in our class Tongue. Any one else fancy their chances? Get your entries in soon now!

Hi John,

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Karen,

If you want a ride on the day please step aboard - we've 8 so far and one more will certainly keep her upright but might make for a boring crew  day.  Sadly the 461 is not well set up to utilise a big race crew efficiently, meaning some will have very little to do except jump from side to side and / or admire the scenery.

But we are taking it seriously with some good race crew already signed up - so it will also be fun.

Our start is circa 8 am so need to get off the dock by 6.30 am Staurday latest.  We aim to park up at Sheppards Friday but please call my mobile 07930 345 255 if you can't find us as may be elsewhere dependent on space.   Most of our other crew are arriving Friday evening for a few cleansing ales and a Chinese, but sleep space will be cushions on the floor (you bring sleeping bag) if you come early also.

You'd be most welcome, so hope to see you

JOHN

Hi karen

We will be sailing down from River Crouch from 17th June, race 20th and get back by 24th.

We have 5 crew for the race so could use one more. Do you have experience of foredeck spinnaker work or sail trimming? Do you just want to do the race or interested in the cruise to and/or back?

I am sure you would be very welcome on board and obviously you have done a fair bit of sailing but it would be useful to know your experience in a bit more detail.

If you wish to discuss please phone on 01277 623318

Best regards

John Matthews

Dear John,

Thank you for letting me be part of your crew for the RTI this year and I look forward to meeting you all on the Friday. Just to confirm tel. no's my number is and the contact numbers in case of emergencies are Trish Masters on  or Claire Willey on  (she does not have a land line). As you suggested I will park my car at Ocean Village where your offices are located, 3 Meridian Cross, SO14 3TJ. I'm not sure what time you said to meet up on the Friday, so if you could confirm that to me again I would appreciate it.

Thanks again and look forward to meeting and sailing with you all.

Kind Regards

Karen Hunt

Hi Kaz,
Look forward to meeting also.
Re parking yes, office address is correct.  Be sure to park in a car spot marked 'ERA' there are two right outside the entrance.  If anyone says anything tell them I told you to do so.
Re your own post above might be sensible now to edit off your phone numbers etc.  I am sure all the Hanse type people are lovely but guess anyone could be reading this stuff.
Re timing. I am taking Swagman over Thursday and had planned to come back to the mainland to do some work Friday but as it is my last day for this summer have thought 'sod it'.
So see you at Shappards when you arrive Cowes Friday evening?
Cheers
JOHN
