Good morning to everybody,
Atanor is a 630 the n° 8 of base to Barcellona.
I would like to be in contact with other ship owners or captain that have the same model, to compare the advantages, the improvements and also the many defects common to the series 630. During the two first years of life of the boat we spend the greatest part of the time to analyze and to resolve the many problems that are manifested during the use. We have a notable quantity of reports compiled by accredited surveys following the inspections. It would be a pleasure for us to put her to your disposition with the finality to compare the most common problems. Will be a pleasure to receive yours mail in our "Private Messenger", also to safe the public image of Hanse in relation to his 630.
Please send mail to: sy. atanor. or sy.atanor@yahoo.es
In the hope of seeing soon ours sails fly together,
regard everybody
------------- S.Y. ATANOR

@atanor This is a public forum, so anything said or implied should be public. I think your post is not in the scope of this forum and I will not contact you privately.
Also I do not agree with some wording in the above post such as :"the many defects common to the series 630" . During our first two years of use we resolved a lot of minor problems, made improvements and changes to match the boat to our taste. We had reasonable (not outstanding or good, but still ok) help from Hanse and the local agent but most important we love our boat and 100% we never regretted buying it.

This discussion is senseless and not very productive specially for us the owners if it is implied that those Hanseboats are not well build or at least worse compared to others. We have seen this in the past and sometimes the attacks are just not fair. This is not meant as a club to attack Hanse, its a forum to learn from the experiences we all had with the boat, how to improve, how to detect and fix things. I have said in the past that so far I have been very satisfied with the treatment Hanse and their Dealer HVG in Greifswald have taken care of my claim. All the yards "cook with water" and face the same problems. Ask owners of Jeanneau/Beneteau or Grand Soleil or even NAutor-Swan, they all have issues.
Again, none of my claims have to do with the quality Hanse builds their boats, they had to do with the quality and failure of equipment delivered with the boat and most of the equipment you will find on a Hanse you will find on a Swan too, so if they fail there thats OK or acceptable and if they fail on a Hanse it is Hanses fault? I know ATANOR as I met them in the med in 2007, I also got to see the reports as I know Atanorīs skipper from back in time when he used to cruise in Venezuela. The problems they face are mostly related to suppliers (rigg, propeller, etc.) . The important part is how the dealer (Hanse) reacts to claims and if they do their utmost to get the problems fixed by the ultimate supplier. So far I have not expreienced a situation in which Hanse rejects to fix areal problem.
And lets face it, after three years with my boat I started to look at brochures again and webpages, figuring that in a couple of years I would like to start the process again of a new project, but honestly I have not seen a boat which gives me so much and sails so well and is so reasonable priced. So if I needed to buy again today I would go the same way.
regards,
------------- Thomas Pollehne

Honestly, Hanse were great at the beginning when the Spanish importer had to be threatened will legal action for numerous (some serious) problems with the boat. I have to admit that being the 004 boat, it was normal that problems did appear and Hanse took great care to solve all the serious problems that they boat had BEFORE being handed over. They went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied.
Since then, problems, some serious, have appeared, and we have to take the importer to court since we have never, since the boat was handed over, had any work carried out on the boat by them that was not sealing with silicon whatever they could. We have since contacted Hanse, since the importer would not even visit the boat, even when in a port where their offices where and having been told it was there, because of rudder system failures. Don't worry, only the first 4-5 boats have this system. Newer boats have the updated system. But we keep on loosing the rudder and the boat sails off in any direction it feels like. As you might imagine, this is not a small problem, but rather a serious one. To this day, after having contacted Hanse, and them telling us that they would get back to us, we are still waiting...for nearly 6 months...
So yes, Hanse do a great job. Yes, they make great boats, which is why I still have mine. But I have no idea why they are ignoring trying to solve a serious steering problem which forced us not to cross the Atlantic this winter. By the way, the new system, which all later model Hanse's have, costs less than 5,000 euros. So obviously you can imagine not only my worry, but perplexity at not hearing back from them to solve a problem which has a solution AND is actually installed on all the later models. Makes one wonder...
But like I said, that is my experience. Others, with surely newer boats, probably don't have to worry. I am not against Hanse, but they should solve the problems the earlier boats have since it IS their responsibility, even if it's through their importer.
So don't be upset if your boat is doing great, while others have to avoid enjoying their boat because of safety concerns and then air their opinions based on actual facts. So if Atanor has problems, which they obviously do, why not let them ask around if they others do as well. It's normal that they wonder if they are the only ones with an importer that ignores them.
Enjoy your sailing, hopefully at some point, we will as well :-)

Dear Panos
I havenīt log in the forum for long as I was on an atlantic crossing with my 531 ZEN and Iīm now experiencing rudder problems so Iīm back to the forum as I think this a great way to share information. She has 6000 miles and 800 engine hours now.
Frankly I do not understand the quoted post from you.
Yes this a public forum but you have to understand some owners do not want to expose their problems with Hanse in public as they can be claiming warranty right now, or they simply did not want to damage the image of Hanse in a public space like this.
Well I think something "has been missed in translation". and you just didnt want the phrase "the many defects common to the series 630" .
Perhaps "many" is too much but..... we all know there are "some".
Well..... I have to do something with my rudder so please everybody with a rudder experience will be welcomed.
Thank you in advance
