Hi,

I have got problems with the pump on the toilet on my 2001 301. The only sticker I can see is one that states that it was made in Italy. Has anyone any idea who the maker is and where I can get spare parts.

Regards,

Richard

Hi Richard,

download the italian Osculati catalogue ( http://www.osculati.it - www.osculati.it ). Probably you will find all spare parts you need.

Hi Richard,

Had some problems with my 'Italian' toilet on Morgelyn, found the spares were almost as much as a new unit so just threw it away and replaced it with a jabsco which I have to say is better in every respect!

When looking for a replacement I tried to find something with the same 'footprint' but couldn't so a little simple surgery is required.

If your boat is the same as mine there is an aluminium plate under the floor which you can drill through and then use self tapping screws to secure of the appropriate size. You may need to modify the outlet pipe slightly but parts are readily available.

It was very easy, I have had no problems at all since, my advice scrap it!!!

Hi ,

Thank you for your replies. I don't want to have to replace the unit but considering the fact that I have had to strip the pump down twice already I think I might go for a different toilet.Your advice on the Jabsco sounds good David.

Richard

I had the same problems with my toilet and also cut my losses and fitted a Jabsco.  That also failed within the first 12 months but was a simple (if not inexpensive) service kit to repair myself.  It was a rubber washer failure. My advice is change it for a well known make..

Hi David and Dave,

My new Jabsco is neatly wrapped up in Christmas paper and is taking pride of place under the Christmas tree.

Worth putting some easing fluid on the old bolts when you take them out to avoid them snapping off. If it is the same as mine you will be able to re-use one of the holes which makes saves a bit of drilling for the jabsco!

A Jabsco toilet was fitted as standard on my 300. I have had problems with the pump from the outset. The solution I have found is to pull the flexible hose that links the pump with the bowl off at the bowl end and pour water into it until full, then push it back on to the bowl fitting quickly so as not to spill too much. Often I need to do this a number of times before the pump is primed.  Once done the pump remains primed as long as it is used regularly say once a day minimum. Do you know why I need to prime the pump and how can I effect a permanant fix ?

Sorry can't help on that one, mine has been no trouble at all - not that you want to hear that!

Happy New Year

Hi David,

Just as you said , But I did need to drill four new holes. A slight extension to the inlet pipe and it went in perfectly. One suggestion I would make is, use self tappers with hexi heads. Much easier to tighten under the bowl where you can only get a stubby screwdriver. A spanner makes life a lot easier.

Thanks for the advice.

Richard
