Hello, I'm the new owner of a used 411 and I'm doing some upgrades. I decided to fit a genoa for the winter and I noticed that my genoa track is a little short. It is actually 2m T track 32mm. I've noticed on the YW review of the 411 the photo with a longer track (I suppose 3m). So I think that the alluminium plate is that longer but I'm not sure. I was wondering if somebody has the alluminium plate configuration with the location of all the plates for the 411 (like the one of the 405). Did anybody made the adjustable genoa cars upgrade, and if yes, how? May I use the same cars or I need a ball bearing cars?
Second question: where I'm suppose to fit the stereo speakers in the dinette? Thanks, Enrico. ------------- Enrico |

Hi Enrico,
Not sure about your track issue - we have a 120% genoa which sheets well on the existing track (about 2.2m long) and drives the boat at good speeds even in light airs. It may be that we have the alternate track of which you speak. WRT the speakers, when we purchased our boat (also second hand) the internal speakers were fitted 1. facing inwards in the inboard side of the starboard seat locker (right next to the compression post for the mast) and 2. facing inwards on the inboard side of the fore and aft section of the settee in the aft corner (in the leg space behind the table). For us one of the biggest lifestyle improvements was putting speakers outside in the cockpit. Hope it helps, Cheers Chris G ------------- H411 "Equinox" |

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply; I have a new 130% genoa and it actually works well with the 2m long track during close-hauled sailing but I have no possibility to adjust it if I have to use the genoa a little rolled or when I have to release the sail; anyway probably is also the cut of the genoa and moreover there are the shrouds limiting the track forward; I just wanted to use the 50cm between the actual end of the track and the shrouds for further adjustment. Just another question : the 120% genoa runs inside the shrouds or outside?
I will install for sure the outside speakers; did you put them in the aft left and right seat facing the wheel? Enrico ------------- Enrico |

Hi Enrico,
Our Genoa sheets outside the shrouds, and if sailing close-hauled with some furled, will rub on them. Again, this depends on the cut of the sail, in our case it has been stretched due to overuse, so it is no longer a problem 
The cockpit speakers go where you suggest - I would lake sure that the cables are well tied/clipped so as to avoid being pulled out when stowing gear in the lockers. Chris ------------- H411 "Equinox" |

Hello Enrico, We made a lot of changes to our 411 when we cruised to the Caribbean. We used the genua 2 (135%) in light weather and when sailing downwind. Otherwise we use the turning jib. See below. I was just having a look at your photos again and noticed your deckwash pump outlet on the lazarette locker front - where did you plumb the raw water intake for it? Hello Chris,
I put a T-joint at the water inlet in the middle of the boat (between the toilet and the kitchen). This is also the water inlet for the toilet. From here a long tube goes to the back locker when I put the (original) water pump. Let me know if you want to know more. Cheers, Michiel |

Thanks for putting on all the pictures, they have given me some ideas for future projects. Can you tell me what size / rating / manufacturer you used for your salt water washdown pump? I have a 461 and can bring a hose from the toilet to one of the stern lockers, which I thought I might terminate with a simple 1/4 turn valve and hozelock fitting. Do you think this would be safe? I assume you used the same pump to supply salt water to the kitchen? Secondly am I right in thinking the photo of the gas bottles is in your stern lazarette? If so why did you fit a winch in your stern? I was considering fitting an anchor winch in the stern for our kedge anchor but Sunboy and John Allison had suggested they have never needed a stern kedge on their 461 / 470. Hello Graeme, I used the original water pump. I think it is a flowking 3000. See the picture below the installation in the stern locker. In the kitchen we use a manual foot pump that is using the same water inlet. 
See below the water inlet setup. The clips should be double for extra safety.
