Has anyone had a sail of the new 445 yet? I'm interested to hear how it stacks up against other models. The added volume on this boat inevitably will slow it down, but it looks like a very nice cruiser.

I would also be curious to hear comments on how the 445 is to sail. I have inspite all ods chosen to buy a 445 without a prior test sailing because of the wonderful design and a very well-planned interior. The boat is now delivered  to my yard and I'm waiting for summerTongue.

That makes two of us, I went to the Hamburg show to spend some time on the boat and made a side trip to Griefswald to see the boat being built - all of which impressed. Mine will arrive in Canada when we thaw out in the spring.

Hi Folks,

I would expect you to read my impression with a pinch of salt but I may have been lucky enough to sail it more than most.  I have been out on roughly 10 test sails with prospective clients, so approximately 20 hours altogether and in winds between 6 and 33 knots.

The sail area is less than the 430 but still scoots along very happily in next to no wind, so there is no shortage of power.

She is quite happy with full sail in 20 knots and remains light on the helm both to windward and off the wind.

I had 2 reefs and half the jib when it was gusting 33 knots and again quite happy.  The helm loaded up a little when off the wind but not significantly and she cruised along at 10 knots quite happily.

Quite how they have managed to make a voluminous boat sail so sweetly is very impressive, inparticular hard on the wind.  I spoke to one of the designers at Judel Vrolijk and he told me that the waterline when heeled at a certain angle is designed to be a sweet spot, which is enhanced by the long waterline and significantly kicked up stern quarters.

All in all everyone I have taken out has not just been impressed but blown away by the way it sails, so I think you will be very happy.

The layout of the deckgear is also spot on for shorthanded and the sparcraft rig and sailcars makes the sail hoist and drop very easy.

Hope that helps - Phil

I could sail the 445 recently in Turkey in quit rough conditions -- the 445 is handy, fast and delightful. I could not resist to order one..:-)

Nice I suspect that boat will do quite well for Hanse. How long until you get it?

It will be delivered by end of April in Istambul. I will then spend some time there to check everything and then sail trough the Aegean Sea towards the south coast of turkey – which is a beautiful area – good wind, lots of anchoring bays, nice nature. Let me know in case you are in the area and would like to get a ride on it.

Sounds like a great place to keep the boat. Our Hull numbers will probably be quite close, mine is going to arrive in Toronto in April.

Super -- let's going on informing about our experiences with the 445!
I orderd it fully equipped including the stronger engine, 2 electrical winches, generator and AC -- a watermaker is now in discussion, but Hanse's offer at 16'000 Euros is expensive compared to market prices.

I didn't go with the genny or air, but i did go for heat, NSE 12 plotter, thruster, bigger engine, cruising and navigation packages. We'll have to compare notes when the boats arrive, it's going to be a long winter waiting for the new toy.

Boys never stop to play -- but the toys get more and more expensive :-)

The NSE12 instead of NSE8 -- what do they charge for this? Seems a good addition! (thruster and the packages I have).

Hello
Is it not fun to see how far from each others the boats has been sold? My boat arrived to Sweden three weeks ago . I have spent some time at the boat which is located indoors so I have good opportunities to prepare the boat while waiting for the summer. (-15 degrees Celsius outside right now!!)
I went for the Cruising pack, Navigation pack (nice to see that Simrad has provided the NSE8 complete with all charts), shallow keel, electrical winches, bathing platform, AIS, folding prop, Swingthruster and some minior extras.
Will spend some time to go through the complete boat. So far it seems that Hanse has done a good job finishing the boat i short time. I was in Greifswald 24 hours before the boat was shipped and it was impressive how many people who could work on one boat at the same time.!
Also nice to see that Hanse has the ability to effective change some details on the boat compared to the #001 boat I saw in Amsterdam.

Scandinavian boat fair where boat was exhibited when arriving to Sweden.

Good picture Stig, the boat looks great. As I recall the NSE 12 cost me around an extra 1,000USD, I've been told it fits the plotter housing nicely.

Dear Mehmet
Congratulation -- its a beautiful boat!
We keep in contact!

To LakeOntario -- many thanks for the input regarding the NSE12 -- I could change my order -- I think the larger plotter screen makes a lot of sense!

Best regards  --  Alain

dear mehmet,
there seems to be no doubt about the performance of hanse boats. but I read some negative notes regarding the finishing of the boats, nuisances regarding faulty parts, etc. and, of course, about bad after sale service. as I'm seriously considering buying a 445, could you pls comment on these issues. I know you haven't sailed the boat yet, but maybe you could share your research notes.
thanks
turgut

Dear Turgut,

It's true, that there was a big problem about bad after sale service in Turkey. But they have a new local agent (Triodeniz) since last year. I also have contacted the main office in Germany to be 100% sure. They also pointed out the same problems in the past and gave me the quarentee, that the new technical staff is very qualified.
If you should decide to buy the boot, we shall be in contact all the time to share any kind of experiences. We get our 495 delivered at the beginning of Mai and plan to sail to Bodrum about 20.Mai.

Regards,

Mehmet Asal

Hi Turgut,
I have sailed the 445 and I have seen the people and  facilities of the new Hanse representative in Turkey -- I had a very positive impression. In fact I orderd a 445 at Trio Deniz, which will be delivered end of April. I believe Trio Deniz / it's staff is really committed to give a good service. (And the 445 is great to sail :-)

Hi Alain

the 445 you sailed, did it have standard or furling sails. which type you had ordered?

Hi Turgut,

The 445 I sailed had a standard main sail and I ordered it also like this as the normal reefing system works perfectly -- also for one person alone. I am not a friend of these in mast furling. If you get a problem with those -- if it gets jammed somewhere way up in bad weather... If mainsail furling it would have to be a boom furling for me -- but I don't think its necessary at all. What is good to have are electrical winches on both sides -- portside for the furling of the foresail.

I ordered a 445 two weeks ago for delivery in June and got hull #45, so it seems like they've got a lot of orders.

Looks like hull # 27 is going to mine.
I bought a Simrad Sonic Hub, good value at $300, links into the NSE plotter to control the music on the ipod

Hi Turgut
I will get my 445#23 by end of April in Istanbul and will sail down to Bodrum. (It's now finished and ready to leave Greifswald) I will then sail in the area during the whole summer -- so we can organize a 445 meeting. When do you get yours?
