Does anybody know of a cheap Marina around the North end of the Crinan canal, where I can leave Dancing Demon for a week or so in July this year.
Let me know of your suggestions, cheers.

My knowlage is a couple of years old. Cost of mooring is directly linked to access by road, I am sure you are aware that it is slow going around the west coast by road. Crobh Haven has the best location and highish price for the imediate area, there are visitors buoys at Crinan, not sure how long they would let you stay. If further north Oban Marina on Kerrera is a little cheaper and harder to get to , further up is Dunstaffnage, on the main Oban road priced a bit below the south coast; but you can drive to it. Further up is Lock Linnhe with buoys cheap and safe , I am sure he would put you up; but I am now 10/15 miles north of Oban or 45 mins by car. There are several small boat yards with buoys in the locks, regret I do not have details From my experience your road or other transport will influence your disicion; better still stay with the boat the sailing is some of the best in the world. Dave,
Simon mentioned Kerrera, the island marina off Oban. I reckon this is your best bet. You can access Oban from Glasgow by train (2 ish hours) and while Kerrera's pontoon fees are quite steep, they do have about two dozen swing moorings, which are ideal for people leaving their boats for a week or two. Cost is all relative mind...you're not talking south cost prices, thats for sure!)
We've spent the last two summers sailing around that part of scotland, taking in both crinan and caledonian canals. Lovely spot if you get the weather, but can be really busy at that time of the year (classic malt cruise is usually around july and that can add to further chaos). Kerrera doesnt take bookings I believe.
My wife claims to have OD'ed on Scotland so I'm looking at turning right after leaving Belfast Lough this summer!

Thanks for your suggestions I will look the Marina on Kerrera up in Reeds. At the moment plans are somewhat up in the air, as we would have, hopefuly, completed the Three Peaks Yacht Race, and so we have to bring DD back sometime before the end of the year. It may be that weather is good and we spend a few days cruising and heading slowly back, then leave DD a few weeks and then go back and spend a week or so to bring her all the way back.
Will be flying the Burgee throughout the race and on the way back, will be expecting to see people like you and the Duke somewhere along the way for a wee drink.

Three peaks Yacht Race??....hmmm...now you've got me thinking.... 2012 looks attractive!.

My home port is Barmouth Mid wales, if you are down before the race starts on 25th June.

Dave - is Three Peaks the race which was on tv last year where you visit three ports and have to climb three mountains as part of the race?

Yes Charles, thats the one. http://www.threepeaksyachtrace.co.uk - www.threepeaksyachtrace.co.uk our team name is Pears 'n' Peaks, Pears because Black Pears are oour City Crest, and Peaks because we have to get team members up to the top and back again.
