I have a flexable panal and a rigid panal. The rigid panel, (50W) is more efficient than the flexable one.
I have the rigid panel mounted above the Davits. The frame is alluminum but the davits are stainless. Hence there is some electrolisys at the joint between the two metals. I plan to have the frame done in stainless as well next year. The voltage regulator which simply loops off the voltage above 13.5v will be replaced with a DCDC converter, to try and use the voltage between 14v to 18v, more efficiently.

Hi Inopio,
I have decided to forget about solar panels for the time being.
I realised that you and the other Hanse owners who replied are all sailing in sunnier conditions than
me, which is on the UK East coast, where I never see local yachts with solar panels.
What I am doing instead is upgrading my batteries to two sealed 105 AH. They are slightly higher than what was previously fitted, and so I will have to use the lid of the locker as battery lid (I will pad the lid underside and  hold it down with screws).
Another thing I will do is change my lighting to LED in order to use less energy.
thanks again for replying

I am sort of on the East Coast and I like my solar panels.  I am on a river mooring, so I know my batteries will be full when I go back to my boat after leaving it for a period.  Also keeps batteries topped up over the winter.

Thank you Charles,
sounds encouraging!
Have you fitted them yourself, please?
And how many W?
And are they on the flat space in front of the spray hood?
Do you remember what your total investment was?
(the local engineer here wants £1000 incl. mounting for 50W)
thanks

Hello Billy, Handshake

check out this site:

http://www.menoswatios.net/

They are well priced and they will send your home (at least in Spain). I suggest you switch to LED also light masthead tricolor and anchor light.

The difference in energy consumption is very substantial in comparison with standard lamps.

Regards.
