This step is useful to get up high enough to open the rope clutch when dowsing the chute and to tidy up the main when dropping it.

Bob,
I just ordered 2 of those same steps and will install them shortly.  Did you use screws?  Aluminum ir stainless?  I'm going to use "riv nuts" or "rivit nuts" a compression fitting that is available in both aluminum and stainless.

Scarab,

It's a very popular product available from several distributers. I believe it is made in the far east then sold by many companies. Here is a website from the UK who sells them:

Silversailor -

Alan, I put the same type of step on my 371.  I drilled and tapped the mast to accept stainless steel machine screws.  Then used teff-gel to provide the isolation of the dissimilar metals (i.e. to prevent galvanic corrosion of the mast).

Thanks Tom.  I'm going to try my Riv Nut installation tomorrow.

Hanse UK in the Hamble supplied my steps - identical to the picture.  Something else for your online shop Dominic?
