Here is where I mounted my espar (Airtronic 4). My Icom remote VHF mike is in the picture at the bottom. Also, you can see the yellow Racor "no-spill" spliced into the fuel vent line. It works well.

Hi Bob.
I see Hanse now mount the heater on the starboard side. A much better installation without the long heater duct across the lazertte from the port side as we earlier 371 owners have.

I've been tring to get a cable extension kit from Webesto but with no sucess. Is your cableing one peice or is it joined/extended?

Regards
Mike

Hi Mike,

I extended the Webasto wiring (plus a bit of adaptation to Espar). I glassed a block to the hull which holds the Espar away from it and makes servicing easy.

We also have an earlier model of 371 (2001) but the Espar is mounted on the starboard side, similar to Bob's. It actually is mounted where Bob's fire extinguisher is in the picture.

I understand that it was an aftermarket installation, and is a coolant based system, so there was quite a bit of flexibility in running the hoses, compared with air ducts. The hoses simply go down into the bilge and end up in the three heat exchange/fan boxes.

Not sure if this bit of information is of any use to anybody, but the system seems to work well and the installation was fine - easy to access and not in the way. The only thing I had to change was moving the coolant expansion tank (which could not be accessed without unscrewing it from the bulkhead.)

Is there an advantage to going with the air based system over the one that we have? I guess having little "radiators" all over the boat could be an issue if they started leaking....
