Hi,
From the beginning regulary I found some water under the floor compartment of the rear head and it smell like sh.. but I did 'n find a leak on the toilet tubes.AT the end of this season when I was cleaning the wastetank with lot of fresh water I discovered there was coming water beside the waste tank and the hull.impossible to find out where it came from(look at the pic)When I take out the ventilation cap on the hull to let down a small flashlight so I can see some more , the whole ventilationtube and the connection with a piece thread end of the wastetank came out very easily so I found the reason.
 Probably to hard tighten by the montage.Fix a new thread end(thruhull) onthe wastetank is the solution but the biggest problem is :how to reach the wastetank without destroy the showerwall.(thanks to the designer)
everyting thats needs regulary maintenance most have easy acces I believe!
Anybody with suggestions?

Hi, We had the same problem with the diesel tank ventilation! The plastic piece connecting the ventilation tube to the exhaust vent was broken. We had to cut a hole on the wall to fix it. Recently we bought a new tool for detecting such problems: it is a Bosch camera attached together with a powerful LED light to a long flexible tube. At the other end of the tube is the color monitor. Hello, normally you dont have to destroy the wall of the shower cabin, because we mount the waste tank after the shower furniture is built in. Then they mount the wall with some snap-on fastener clips to hold it in place and than seal it with sika to make it watertight for shower use. Maybe you can try to cut the sika seal and than pull the wall with the rubber sucting thing that hanse delivers with the boat. So you should reach the tank. Its the only possible way I think. The problem with the tank has been fixed now. the tank manufacturer redesigned the venting fitting and made it thicker so it doesn't brake again, because every second boat had a broken vent in the past years. So if you buy a new waste tank from ruhland you wont have this problem. So try it. If you have any further questions... Greets |

On our boat the fronthead wastetank is reachable by a woorden removable frontpanel with such a snap-on system but the tank itself have no control hatch.Because we have to clean the tanks and unblocking the in- and outlets( the inside diameter of the tanksfitting are already to small even with our elect toilets with Vortex grindingpumps) 2 or 3 times every season we have make a removable maintenance hatch in the tank. In the afterhead there is not such a removable panel.I agree with you that you build in the furniture first than the tank and finaly the showerwall but this wall is,so far I can see ,glue on a wooden frame (on the bulkhead of the aftercabine)and the other side on the furniture and than sealt with sikaflex form watertighting and then glue a wooden L profile over the corner also glued completly to finish it off If you look at my pictures you can see there is no possible way to reach this glue on the bulkhead and on the furniture because the wastetank is in the way and everything will be destroyed Our solution is to make a big opening in the showerwall with a inspectionhatch (Nuova Rade)and a true in the tank with a removable cover so we can clean and unblocking they regulary and easy. vzr1800 If you are employed by Hanse and 100% shure that I can remove the showerwall like you says please let me know before I start this blody job. Hi, We use preventive maintenance instead of mechanical cleaning! Every few weeks we fill the waste water tanks with very hot (almost boiling) water through the deck fitting and after letting it stay for some minutes we open the lower valve and empty it. After some repetitions the water comes out clear and we know that the tank is clean. Our tanks are out of stainless steel, not out of plastic. ------------- Panos Hanse 630e - selling her - |

I Can't make sure that the wooden shower wall is fixed with this snap-on system on your boat, but the way i described it is the way that the waste tanks are built in since maybe three years. I can't imagine that they glued this panel on with sika, because we have to reach the tank at the end of the production line to test if there is any leakage. And afterwards the leakage test is done we put the plate on there and they seal the edges of with sika. I' don't know when you got your boat...but i can ask maybe some older employees on tuesday that ae working there, how it was built longer time ago. So i wouldnt't cut this wall down till I wrote a message on tuesday afternoon, ok? Panos idea is very good with the hot water. Thats the wa most hanse owners clean up their tanks. The new 575 has removable inspection holes in the aft waste tanks so you can clean your tank properly. But they have 60liters capacity i think instead the 35liters of the ruhland tank thats built in the front of the boat and in the other boats. |

VZR1800, It is good to hear that Hanse have made some improvements with the 575. I am interested in ordering a 575 some your information is encouraging. I think all, or at least most, of the members of this Forum are interested in seeing Hanse improve their product and are keen to give feedback to assist. They are obviously also keen to get some assistance with problems which they may have with their own vessels. I am currently in a very good position with the current vessel which we run because the owner runs the shipyard who built the vessel. I can phone or email the Naval Arch Design Manager, the Electrical Design Manager, the Engineering Design Manager, the Fitout Manager, the Purcahsing Manager or anyone I choose to and get an informative response to my questions. The information flow also goes the other way as well. If the yard would like some feedback they contact me. This is the perfect situation but I am sure the Hanse owners would love to have this same realationship with Hanse and to some degree they deserve a realationship where they can contact the yard and get constructive, informative feedback when wanted. Hanse would be very well served to look at the option of appointing a Onwers Liason Manager who could be the conduit between owners and the Hanse management and service personnel to facilitate the flow of meaningful feedback from owners to Hanse and information from Hanse to the owners. Your feedback and insight is greatly appreciated. Please keep the information coming. The trick just rinse many times with boiling water every few weeks as preventing don't work always(we did that in the beginning) on the Rühland 35 liter plastic tanks.The sh;;;;tfouling(the urine and salt cristalisation in a hot environment like Turkey and Greece in the summer is the worst)has more grip on the crude plastic than on smooth inoxwalls, so the residu comes off in bigger thin layers pieces and the outlet- and inletconnection (inside there is the vertical tube who's can not properly be cleaned with only hot water rising from the deckoutlet ) they are blocked after 3-4 weeks of use, because the inside diameter of this connections are very small ,as you can see on my pict of the broken vent connection.
We need to do it the mecanical way to crack the layers on the bottom inside the tank,in the outletconnection and intaketube and pull a hose in the tanks trough the selfmade maintenance hatch(just in top of the inlettube) with a lot of hot water under pressure to get to crute out.We can do this on the frontcabine toilet(easy acces more or less) but impossible on the rear one.
And we never throwing paper in the toilets.
 If it is possible to remove easily the showerwall like vrz1800 thinks ,we will replace the plastic tanks by bigger inox one's of a whole new design
IMO the Rütland 35 liter tanks are to small, not well designed and not suitable for the job  if you live almost constantly on the boat and I mean on the water not in de marina. ------------- Wild and Wet Belgium 545e#268 |

Hi, I am also living in the boat at least 2 weeks per month during winter and the boat is used full time during summer. We are throwing toilet paper in the head and we had never a problem until now ( almost 5 years). Our tanks are stainless steel though and we flush the tanks with hot water regularly and also disassemble and maintaine the maserator twice yearly. We removed the vent filters long ago since they got blocked instantly. I only wish we had bigger black water tanks. ------------- Panos Hanse 630e - selling her - |

We have on our 470 a similar problem. However it is not the airvent connection but the main connection to the deck. I believe we are able to replace the tank but given the discussion here i am thinking of a stainless steel one. Any brand suggestions? ------------- Owner of the Lunatic - H470 #346 |

Similar problems with my 355 - leakage was fortunately minor but due to no access to septic system I had to destroy the shower room wall.
Brilliant engineering and bean counting - proper inspection hatches would have cost maybe 40€-50€ so great way to save costs too. If those had been in place I would have checked the connections and this would never have occured...
