Just another smart thing I saw at the boatshow at X-yachts in Denmark.

I have seen the same thing on other boats, but don't know if any You got this on a Hanse?
The comandering chief aboard has orded me to produce this.
I wonder if one can control the rudder from that seat, and also if it will get in the way during harbor maneuvering/mooring.
The outboard will get in the way with that location.

The brand NOA has made a quick solution:

Hi all.
Is anybody interested in this solution?
Did any of you manufacture/order something similar?
I am looking for something to fit in our Hanse 350.
Cheers!

It seems easy enough to make.  The most difficult part would be the attachment to the rail.  I've seen standard fittings that would seem to work, though.  What I would be worried about is the setup getting in the way of other things.

If that's not an issue, then go for it.

Hi here are pics of bow and stern seats on Gale Force. No you cannot steer from the rear seats and they do not really get in the way!

You can steer from anywhere on the boat if you have the B&G bluetooth remote for the autohelm :-).    I do it all the time.   Took me about an hour to install.

Rick,

A remote control for the AP is on my shopping list this year. A bit late in the process as we have already sailed about 35,000nm without one but it would be handy for the last few longer multi days trips we have left to get home in OZ.

Easy install.   There is a network bridge in the starboard cockpit
locker.   Once I bored the hole,  just plugged the cable into the bridge. Pair it and you’re done.

I use it a lot when both the Admiral and I are on the bow getting things out of the sail locker.   Lots of lobster pots in our area.

Rick,
I hadn’t seen this before. Just looked it up online. Interesting. Where did you mount the Bluetooth antenna?

Saw the initial post on my phone and needed my mac for a picture...

The location is in the lower right.   It shows "bluetooth" on the antenna.    You can see two things in the picture:

The bluetooth antenna goes in easy once you get over the trauma of cutting into the gelcoat.   As I said, there is a network bridge below it.   One warning.  You need a SIMNET to NMEA adapter (I believe) to connect the cable from the remote antenna to the bridge.   I got mine from Defender Marine, but my guess is they are readily available.

A duplicate charging station for the VHF radio handheld.    There is a 12V outlet in the same area (but on the Fusion stereo side) and I used that for the power.  Works great.   One below.  One on deck.

Hope this helps.

Mike, I mounted the antenna for remote autopilot control in starboard locker, there is a free simnet socket there on 458. Alternatively, there is a holder at void at port, also with nmea/simnet access. I was a little afraid to put antenna far away because the wireless signal fades quickly. Hence starboard locker.

Duncan, I like the bow seats. Where did you get these? I have been looking for something similar.

As far as range goes (no pun intended),  I've used the bluetooth remote for the autohelm on the very bow of the 575 at least 50' away from the antenna.

I mounted the antenna on top of the cockpit combing as that was the recommendation from B&G and I didn't want to give them an excuse for it not working the first time I called :-)

Hi Wayne
Re: The seats
Unfortunately I cannot tell you where they came from.As you can see it is all a custom job including the solid lifelines around the whole boat. This work was all done long before I took ownership in 2018.My understanding is that all work was done in Boat Lagoon Phuket.
Cheers
Duncan
