If you have an extra propeller... let me know, please Smile

Preferably 3 blades, because the boat is 371 and engine is MD2030. Saildrive is MS25 and the ratio is 1: 2.47 so... would be the most suitable 17x10/11x3L or 16x12/13x3L so on...

2 blades has not been ruled out, but will be considered and bids will be received, thanks.

Cheers

Juissi

Hi,
I dont have an prop to sell but you should have 17x12 3-blade or 17x13 3-blade. Smaller size will give to high RPM. Both Volvo original and FlexOFold are good props for the 371.

Thanks Jesper

Good to know, good comments are always welcome. Do you have a personal experience of the propeller on the size of H371 boat?

I sent email the invitation to tender to the FlexOFold's importer and he offered 16x11x3L, I got to think about it, even then the propeller (16") sounded too small. Then I called to FlexOFoldin importer again, now he recommended 17x11x3L... a little strange, what is size at next time  Smile But he said that by using 17x11 prop the max RPM will drop at 150RPM.

Thanks for the tip, Jesper

BTW Gori also recommended as a small propeller 16.5 X11x3L

I have a Kiwi off my 370, it misses one blade.
If you want a cheap folding prop, you could have this Kiwi refurbed and be in business.

I use to have a 371 with the Yanmar engine (now sold, have bought a 400e instead) and when I bought it in 2004 I asked FlexOFold for a prop calculation. They recomended 17x12 or 17x13 3-blade. The Yanmar has almost the same reduction (maybee you should check that, Yanmar engine in 371 is 3YM30 with SD20 saildrive). However I decided to order the prop directly from Hanse and told the importer that I wanted the 17x13 3L. I was not able to check the size at delivery since the boat was already in the water. But it had really high RPM - approx 3800 rpm (probably in rpm limitation) and max speed was around 7kn. When the boat was lifted after the season I found out that they had fitted a 16x10 3L Ouch. I called the importer and they replaced the blades with 17x11 3L, but the RPM was still to high, I could easy reach 3800 rpm but with a clean hull and at clam conditions I reached 7.9-8kn . A friend of mine had a Bavaria 38 with the same 30hp Penta you have and they fitted a volvo prop, 17x13 3 blade and max rpm was below 3600. They reached 8kn and was cruising at 7 below 3000 rpm.

A 16 inch Radice, or 16 Gori, or 17 inch flexofold would all work fine for you.
Th Radice has a coarser build but works quite well.

I have Flex-o-fold blades (not the hub) 17x11 3L if it would suit you. I have a 371 with 40hp Yanmar but have changed the blades to 18x12 3L. Do you have 30 hp Yanmar?

Hi MatsG

Thank you for your message
The boat has a Volvo Penta MD2030 29hp, but almost the same power and gear ratio.
I'm interested in the blades.

Dear All,

I have currently a Volvo MD 2030 29 hp @ 3.600 rpm with a MS25 reducing 2.47:1 driving a 16 inch 2 blade flexofold folding prop with unknown pitch.

I want to upgrade to a 3 blade flexofold folding prop.
As an option I will at the same time upgrade to a Volvo MD 2040 40 hp @ 3.600 rpm with same 2.47:1 MS25.

after goimg through all posts I am a little bit confised now… and even more confusing flexofold offers for the 40 hp option a 17x11 3 blade prop. I understood that some of you uses such size for 29 hp. after a longer discussions with flexofold headquarter they still confirm 17x11 for 40 hp. unfortunately I dif not ask for 29 hp to get an comparison.

Easiest for my issue would be to give your recommendations of prop sizes for

a: 29 hp
b: 40 hp

Hope to get so,e answers from your swarm intelligence.

Best regards
Robert
