What are you using to clean/maintain the high gloss finish on the wood below decks on the Hanse line.   A dealer I met at a boat show once told me he would put a coat of carnuba wax on the glossy finish each year.   Curious if anyone is doing this?  What are people using to clean the wood?

Hi Hull 120,

Well we have used most of the times just water... but also if there are some fingerprints (and they are...) we use Pledge of the firm Johnson. I believe this is well know around the world. I am affraid that canubawax will give the wood a sticky feeling?? If there are any other nice cleaning ideas keep us informed.

Sincerly,

Frank

The dealer told us, we should take only alcohol. In germany we have Spiritus (Ethanol-Alcohol but very cheap and unenjoyable cause it smells ugly). They cleaned the whole boat with that. Especial rests of sikaflex are easy to remove. And they garanted me that there are no problems with the high glossy varnish.

Kind Regards

Ralf

We now sail our 371 the fourth season and we only used water. In special cases we took Spiritus- but more for the white painted walls and the ceiling. No problems at all with brightness of  wooden surface.

sincerely

Dietmar

Hi all,

My Hanse 371#94 is in its 17th month. It is raced  every week summer and winter with regular cruises, all I use is a clean damp cloth and dry off with an old bath towel. the finish is still perfect.

It is going to the Sydney Boatshow at the end of July.

Regards

Rob
