Duncan,
I haven't done it but with the correct puller I can't see any reason why it couldn't be done.

It’s possible with a fix propeller.
With a flexofold it not recommended. You have to take blade by blade of to get to the shaftnut. On there website you can download the installation guide and you will see this is quit impossible to do this in the water.

Hi Wayne,Wild
Thankyou very much for your responses.I can confirm that there is definitely no enthusiasm to replace a flexofold prop in the water. The diagrams show a straight forward procedure on land and although it would be possible in the water I see to many ways for it to go wrong. So The boat will come out for a couple of hours for prop and anode change. Cheers Duncan

Duncan,
I had a look at the Flexofold website info and yep there are a few bits that would be easy to loose. If you have a travel lift available close by it would always be the best and easiest option. Is the prop damaged?

Hi Wayne
Yes I do have access to a lift so thats no problem. If you recall I have written about my D3 failure and a Yanmar 110hp re engine. The only gearbox available was a different ratio to the Volvo box but I tried it with the original 3 bladed prop.Consumption is higher and revs are lower so now putting the Flexofold recommended 4 blade prop for my new set up. Lets see how we get on Cheers Duncan

Duncan. I would think that the 4 blade would load the engine even more, unless the pitch was greatly reduced. Hanse usually used the 4 blade with the 150 hp d3. I’ve been using the 3 blade with my 110 hp which matches up perfectly. The engine can reach full rpm and the boat achieves 9 kts. I have the 23 x 16 so maybe a 23 x 14 or 13 ?

Same to our Hanse 545 :110hp Yanmar +Flexofold 3blade 23”x14 topspeed 9kn on 2.200 RPM.
We can go faster but than the steering becomes very heavy and the AP can not handle the job.

Imo the 22 is a bit to small for your boat the 23-14 3R is maybe better.
Did you contact Flexofold jet ? They ware very helpful for me. |
