i haven't measured, but I have been telling marina master 29 feet on water, 31 feet overall. In 30 foot slip now with no problem.

This is from memory. I have had mine 18 years so others may correct me if i have anything wrong. Back in 2003-2006 the hulls of the 31 series were all the same. There may be a different genoa track & the 2006 version had a better arrangement so that a short bow sprit could be fitted to take a code zero etc. I seem to recall a slight difference in windows, but I am not certain about that. the main difference is in the cockpit transom design. The 315 had a step through transom. This meant that the tiller steered version had a steeply curved tiller. Thankfully I do not have that version. When I ordered my 31 I was told that it would be a 315 as Hanse had modified it a little. When it came the invoice & bill of sale says 315, but the sticker on the side of the boat says 311. Comparing my one, with one supplied in 2006, there is a difference in the interior joinery. It had harsher corners & the locker doors have slits cut in them. Mine has rattan panel in the doors & the corners to the table, galley & chart table are better. The veneer is better as well. I think that the 312 has slotted panels. Inspiration Marine told me that the numbering went 311-315-312 then 315 again. Not sure if that was true or just sales talk!! Mine is Hull no 140. The keels were altered very slightly. I am told that some had a small piece at the back where it was attached to the hull - like an extended fairing. However, these had a tendancy to crack if the boat grounded & flexed the hull. As they were not structural Hanse deleted that part of the moulding from later versions. It caused hassle with surveys, trying to explain that it did not matter.

hey Doug ,
We have a 312 2005 and I am 6’5” and the rear cabin is no problem for us. Front one is ok on my own but then my wife is 6’ as well so it gets a bit tricky in the forecabin with both of us. Andy
