Hi
On board my Hanse 505 (#072 from 2015) my bow thruster has stopped, and I cannot find the reason why. It stopped during operation when I under quite hard side wind was docking. The thruster were operated a bit intensively pulsing for 20-30 seconds over a few minutes until i stopped. First I suspected the fuse (335 A) on the thruster battery, but this was OK. Every thing seems to be normal; the truster opens and closes normally, the thruster controller seems to be OK, the LED´s on the thruster seems to give the correct signal. But the thruster itself will not run. What can be the problem? Are there other fuses that can be blown? Are there any other overload protections or other that can be checked? Any help will be appreciated. Bjarne

Hi,
There is a overheating Secure System. It protect the bowthruster against to long or to oft using in one Sequence! If the temperature is down, the System is running again. It's a "Temperatur Fuse" |

Thanks Björn
Is there a reset mechanism? The thruster failed last weekend, and is still not running. Bjarne

Had a similar failure on mine after using it several times over a few minutes. Not more than 1 minute each time.
The problem was three-fold. 1) brushes on the motor 2) one of the relays that operate the motor in one direction was faulty 3) 10amp fuse in control system blown & control system needed a reset. This fuse is near the bow thruster isolation switch in a waterproof holder. Motor & relay were repaired by an electrician in his workshop. Control system needed an electronic technician. He had to speak direct with Quick in Italy as there is nothing in the manual about how to do this procedure. My unit is a 2013 & the procedure is more difficult. The latest version is simpler. May be worth speaking to Quick direct as there is a guy in the Technical Department who speaks English if you don't speak Italian! If I can be of further help please ask. |

Hi Charentebob
Thank you for sharing your experience. My boat is still under warranty, så I guess I´d better ask my Hanse dealer. I have not seen a control box other than the junction box on the thruster with signaling LES´s on the cover. However, I´m surprised if it tuns out that the system is overloaded without the main fuse is blown. An overload should be handled by the fuse, not by burning down a relay or the motor brushes or even worse - burned down windings on the motor. Best regards from Bjarne |

The control box is the thing near the motor with flashing LED. Also forgot that another fuse was blown. Can't remember the amp size but it was located above the batteries inside the removable wooden panel. On the 415 there are 2 or 3 fuses in waterproof cases low down on the right hand side. They are like those you get in cars but very large. On the main fuse board the fuses are the medium size. There is a mini size as well as this very large type. You are right that my motor & relays should not have been damaged without blowing a fuse first, or at least that is my view. |
