Hello

Last year I purchased a Hanse 315 (2024). I'm very happy with it, except for the refrigerator.

The on/off intervals seem very short to me, which is not only acoustically annoying, but also likely to increase power consumption. With a full refrigerator after 3 days running (thermostat on level 3 (out of 7)), the running times average 45-50 seconds, and the idle times are just under 4 minutes. Air temperature 20-25°C.

Replacing the thermostat made no difference, and the electronics also showed no faults when checked. According to the manual, there must be two ventilation openings, each measuring 200 cm² (25 x 8 cm), but Hanse actually only specifies one with a size of 17 x 8 cm. However, removing a cover in the side panel under the sink made no difference.

What are your experiences with this?
Are your coolingboxes visibly insulated? From underneath, I can only see the fiberglass laminate, no foam, Styrofoam, etc.

Regards
Manfred

Hi
You may find this helpful
I have 2 125w solar panels and run the fridge whole summer on those
The fridge is a 2 box with only about “one” cm of foam at the closest parts
So adding some extra security helps
Remember only closed foam that’s not hydrophobic will help
Otherwise it collects water and loses the isolation capacity

Hello Jonas

Thanks for your answer and the link. Yes, additional insulation would certainly be an advantage , but I'm not sure whether it would significantly change the short start-up interval - but it's worth a try.

It would be interesting to hear about the experiences of other 315s (from 2015).

I have published a few years back on Hanse fridges Isotherm or Dometic. The compressors/cool plate are well engineered. The weak link is the thermostat. The thermostat is very basic mecanical contacter driven by an aneroid capsule from capiliary tube to a bulb attached to cool plate. The on off and hysterisis is in the mecanical thermostat by design. Isotherm price last time I looked was <£100. As this thermostat is used in many cheap domestic fridges it can be bought for £10 as spare part. In short it is a rubbish thermosata when used on our boat compressors.

I fitted a micro controller digital thermostat  powered by 12volt supply. I constantly displays temp, set point, and switch point. It  has complete control parameters setable both high, low temperature can be set, hysterisis, over under temp alarms, and a delay function to stop a shot cycle where the compressor could attemp to pump the refrigerant in liquid state. these thermostats can be bought for <£15 on internet. Linki below is not nesesarily where I bought from but same product.
I have just had 7 weeks without shore power with approx 80 watts solar runs my fridge 24/7 at 5 degC. I reduces consumption from old mechanical thermostat.

At least on my 2006 H315 isolating the fridge helps a lot. I glued PU plates around the box as much as I could reach. The food is cold and power use is 15 Ah /day. I have the Isotherm ASU system.
