For any 415 owner who has not followed this subject in the 385 section of the Forum I'm mentioning here that there is a problem.

The standard truster battery fitted by Hanse is 170mm wide. The available space is 140mm! Currently the solutions seem to be either remove the water tank or some wood around the bed support.

This a rediculous situation. I am visiting the London & Dusseldorf Boat Shows & will raise this issue with Hanse. I have to change my battery so a real rather than theoretical problem.

In a similar situation I was once offered the advice...." when the battery is completely flat, just fold it up and remove."

Phil at inspiration marine confirms that you have to remove the water tank. In the end it wasn't too hard as long as the tank is empty

Your humour is much appreciated in connection with this frustrating issue.

Glad you didn't have to resort to butchering. Did you have to disconnect pipe connections & completely take out the tank or just wriggle it enough to make space for the battery removal?

Just remove a few tie wraps and disconnect the pipe to the pump, it's too short to leave in place. Photos on my thread

Hi, this thread was originally from 2016, and as batteries age, i’m guessing many others have faced this issue of the bow thruster battery replacement. I have a 415 built Dec 2016 and the battery needs replacing. Has anyone found a solution other than removing the water tank, which seems to be quite a task. Thanks

I found it easiest to cut out a piece of top of the bed frame support with a jigsaw and then remount it with a batten underneath, screwed in for subsequent removals.  Crazy design

Thannks, thats a good suggestion. Taking out the tank looks like quite a job, so this should be easier

I wanted to close the loop on this. I found it possible to leverage the tank (emptied) up and back a couple of inches, without removing the hoses. This gives just enough room to take the old battery out and put the new in. So in the end, quite a straight forward job, and no need to remove or cut anything
