How old is your boat? it seems to me the broken Selden sheaves are the old type with out the bushings.

I suffered the same problem but in my case it was the Topping lift and the cut was as clean as a cut with a craft knife.
It is the sharp edge on the sheave that caused the failure and I received replacements free of charge from Hanse.The sheave was replaced by climbing the mast but using the main to support the bosuns chair, maybe that’s why your rigger prefers the mast down. |
