now it is working
you have to look on page 83 for fractional rigs like Hanse
page 82 is for masthead rigs.

Up to date information on my Boom.

I have been talking to both Selden uk James Harris and Performance rigging and have been told that the main sheet setup is wrong and so they will not replace boom. I have forwarded 2 other yachts pictures plus a picture of my boom when originally commissioned stating that they set up the booms in this way in Germany . I have now contacted Hanse Yachts and await their reply .
Either its Hanse fault not setting them up right (all three yachts ) or selden not supplying the right Boom ??

any other comments are welcome .
I have also been in contact with Moose's owner who also says that he was told this . Funny that
can i please have the owner who had the broken boom in Gibraltar and also the Las Palma yacht who finally had my boom get in contact with me .
We need to sort this out once and for all.
my email is Aosbanbury@btinternet.com

I have also seen my boom with a big bend, similar to your picture - thankfully with no repercussions...to date!! I assume my main sheet has the same set up as yours. Please keep me posted on the outcome.

Since our sheeting point is so far fireward, it looks like we can ignore E max and select the boom on Y max. On my 385 my Y looks to be 2.8 meter, so I would need a B200 boom for a boat under 8 tonnes. . I'm well within E max at this size boom. What is your tonnage, and Y on the 505, and what boom section do you have?

From the standard spec you are about 14 tonnes and your E is 6.15, so your Y is probably just short of 4 metres. That would mean a B290. I have no idea what your RM might be though, but with such a long Y % of E I can't see that it would make any difference.

Mind you I'm not a marine engineer, I'm just interpreting Seldon's own data sheet

By the way, my E is 5.1 so my Y is 55% of E.

I assume we are all roughly the same.

Hello,
referring to the Hanse 505 stability curve MLCD (multi load curve with medium keel I believe) sheet on the Hanse website the RM is around 11000 displacemant 16.500 Kg and E=6.15M.
When we put this to the selden table you need min a B250 boom(Emax is somewhere between 7,6 and 7,3M but E is in this case not the problem) B200 will be to small (Emax = 4,7M) and with B250
Ymax may not exeed 2,5 -2,6M and this is not the attachment point on the boom but the attachment points of the blocks on the deckroof transferred on the boom to the endpoint of E(where the markerstrip is on the boom, outhaul max tension)
If your Y is bigger you need a bigger boom B290 like mine.RM 14000 displacement 22.500 Kg and E=6,50M Emax=8,5M Ymax=3.3M

This is how I see it.
