Hi,
One month ago i bought a Hanse 385 boat from 2015.  I see that there may have been a problem with the interior lighting control system.
The small dimmer switch panel does not work and I can turn on the lights with an installed rocker switch. With this in the sallon only 4 pcs. round light can be turned on.
I looked around the net and it looks to me like the SLS control unit is removed. I will buy the new SLS control unit.
My question is if anyone can help me to get the wires back to their factory location correctly?
It would be nice to have an SLS control unit installation wiring manual.

If you look at the price list, the SLS is an option.  I'm sure most boats will take this as it is part of the "Comfort" pack.  I have always wondered how lights are controlled if this option is not selected.

The SLS controls the main saloon spotlights, the galley spotlights, the saloon backlighting in the ceiling handrails and the 3 red courtesy lights.  I believe the last two are also optional / part of the comfort pack.

How are your galley lights controlled?

I would check to see if you have the led light strips installed in the ceiling hand holds and the red leds, one under the companionway and one behind each helm position.

If you don't have these options installed it may not be worth the expense of installing the SLS unit.  I think access to this may be difficult, possibly requiring the galley sink to be removed.

I do have a wiring diagram which you should also be able to get via the Sentinal app once you register your HIN.

Hi S&J,
thanks for your quick reply.

I checked the lights on the boat to see what was factory installed.
The led light strips are installed in the celling hand holds.
The three red leds are also there, one under the stairs, two at the helms.
On the kitchen wall there is the factory SLS light dimmer-switch which is not working.
As I said now only 4 pieces spot lights can turn on with a non-factory switch, the other lights don't work.
I want to restore everything to the factory state.

You said that you have a circuit diagram, you can't send it to me any other way? via email?

Thank you,
Denis

Denis

Have you ever solved the lighting problem?

We just bought a 2017 455.  The lights in the main saloon are controlled by one breaker.   Itís on or off.  The SLS has a power button that we can turn on and select s1 or s2 for which nothing happens.   There are 4 other buttons below that which do some how turn the rest of the lights on but no dining. I really just want a few lights on.   Given there is only one breaker I can only have all the lights on or off.  None of the night reader lights will work without having all the lights on/

Is it time to write a check or is there something I am not seeing?

The S1 and S2 switches are ďscenarioĒ buttons that can be programmed to switch a combination of the SLS controlled lights on at a predetermined brightness. They may simply have never been programmed on your boat. I donít know how to do that but the Hanse owners app has all the manuals on it.

The other 4 switches turn on the various lights as you have discovered. To set the brightness you need to keep the switch pressed and it will cycle through the dimming for the particular light set it controls. In my 445 the switches control galley lights, salon overhead, salon mood lights (led strips) and the red courtesy light. The icons on the switches tell you which is which.

On my boat the SLS touch panel on the end of the galley sink / fridge cabinet is connected behind by a very delicate plug and socket.  This can be accessed from the top drawer cavity when the drawer is removed.  It might be worth checking whether the plug / socket is properly connected.

The SLS controls do work in that they turn on and off the power to the lights throughout the boat.   The problem is I have to keep the power on for the saloon lights in the main cabin.   With it off I have not lights and the SLS does not work.   If there is programming that will enable me to turn off the main lights then this would solve my problem.    I canít find a manual for this online and Hanse just wants to sell me another SLS control unit which comes to $275 US dollars including shipping.   I would gladly pay that but likely I would just end up with a spare part for the boat.

I have tired to use the Sentinal app but they require you scan QR codeís which I do not have on the boat.

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

I think we must be talking at cross purposes. Can I check if by keeping the power on do you mean at the DC panel switch?

On my boat none of the interior lights work with the lights turned off at the panel as one would expect. The one exception being the ceiling light by the companionway which is wired to an always on point on the DC distribution panel. With the main interior lights power supply switched on the SLS controls only the salon and courtesy lights. All other lights: salon reading, head ceiling, cabin lights work regardless of if the SLS is powered on or not.

Does that help?

yes it makes sense about the main switch for lighting at the control panel.   It seems my problem is the SLS control as I have tried with various options.  The SLS turns on and off other lights but does not control the main saloon lights which can only be turned off at the main control panel.  Itís as if the main saloon lights are hard wired into the control lights on the panel which is why I canít turn them off without turning off the control switch at the panel.

I agree. It sounds like the factory screwed up the wiring and what should have gone to the SLS was sent to the main panel instead and vice versa.
