starboard cabin storage solutions?

   We want to convert the small cabin off the galley into storage.(really like the other models which made it a "garage")

Have you modified yours to enable cruising and the associated gear, etc?

Looking for inspiration on how to organize and secure in there:

	I really loved the locker/cabin in my 385 but prefer the massive bow locker in the 458 for most things. It swallows my inflatable tender, electric scooters, pasarelle, spinnaker, fenders, anchor snubbers and spare lines with a 150l water tank underneath the grating floor. I also added shelving for smaller items. My 3rd cabin off the galley gets used for 2-3 weeks a year and at other times it is a useful space for storing the cockpit cushions I would like to fit a second fridge/freezer and I'm struggling to work out where this might go. .One suggestion is to move the central "stool" from the saloon into the main cabin and put a fridge in its place. My challenge is working out how to secure these ! Another option might be to trim on of the mattresses and mount the fridge in the 3rd cabin. I'd be interested in ideas from anyone who has done similar.

	Yes, the bow locker is huge! How do you mitigate the massive amount of extra water weight up there? Been planning to put some shelves in there too, layers with a little fuel on the bottom, lines, tender, sail, etc (more light weight, as we were just reminded, most ships sink bow first) As to the additional fridge, we have one to the right of the stove, cut into the cabinets. It is a slide-out model and works well, infact it is our primary fridge. We do miss the proper kitchen cabinet space although it does work well in there. Have seen others put washing machine in the starboard cabin (midship, behind saildrive) and also in the saloon, ahead of the battery bank with a cabinet built around. I would probably build an extra alliance into the cabinet in the starboard cabin. looking into those glass suction-cup solutions to anchor storage into the fiberglass areas for easy removal/re-arrangement. We took out the saloon bench and put it in storage. much prefer the open plan, clear path for/aft. Do miss the easy access storage although it prevents me from hoarding aboard Edited by MyBMW - 24 October 2025 at 16:34

	I always found the bow seemed to ride a little high and don't find the additional 150kg of water makes significant difference to the trim. I also added 20m chain for a total of 80m, although my Viking anchor is only 12kg which partially compensates for the additional chain weight.

	right, it does appear to ride high (even with full water) How did you secure your new anchor? Been looking to upgrade, and like the bolt-action installed from the factory.

	Agree with Stuart, someone told me too that my nose is a little too high and suggested I put more chain to balance. Also, it depends on whether your water tank is full or empty, this alone changes the weight by a half ton or so. Recently I installed a bow thruster and two batteries which added another 100 kg on the bow.
