Hi, I am considering buying a Hanse 545 to cruise the Mediterranean and the cross over to the Caribbean. I am getting concerned about the quality issues and lack of responsiveness of the yard. Has this improved? should I look for alternatives? if so, any recommendations? What are the opportunities for discounts from recommended price list? how much should budget for a boat fit to cross the Atlantic?
Lots of questions..Looking forward to tap into your experience. Regards Jeroen |

Whatever you do, avoid buying in Spain, the importer has been of absolutely no help. I would actually say they were even a hindrance, by making ua loose time when they said they would solve a problem, but simply never did, or by putting silicon everywhere they could. Not very serious or correct if you ask me. And I am not the only one. Others in the forum have had the same problems with the Spanish importer.
Said that, I heard that in Malta and Griefswald, they do an excellent job keeping their clients happy with their purchase. I have no experience with the UK, but have not heard anything negative, so give them a try as well. Happy Sailing! |

Reis, hi.
I am also planning to buy a 545 to sail in the Med. I am half Turkish, so, I was thinkig to moore the boat in Bodrum (we own a house there!).
I asked prices to the UK dealer, and Turkish Dealer. Murat bey. The UK dealer claims they are the best service house oof Europe, whilst the Turkish dealer claim that we need a lot to be done in Turkey so, he want me to buy it from him. Can you please tell me more about your experience with Trio? The problem is that, I dont intend to keep the boat forever in Turkey, and plan to do Atlantic Race for Cuiser and moore it in the carabians. So, I am not sure how the Turkish after sale service would reach me there. The UK would. Also, corporate law is not always better in Turkey compared to the UK. Let me know what you think... PS: I test-sailed with Murat a sand coloured nice 545 in Bodrum-Turkbuku... Was it yours? |

I have taken delivery of my 470 this summer in the Med in Marseille. I have had alot of problems with the boat but I read myhanse before and knew that I would have a boat that would take some time to have ready. Some major changes have come for France as far as Hanse is concerned. I will not go further for now. All I can say for my sake is that if you are calm and patient things come out right. BUT dont expect to leave in the first 6 months because the boat wont be ready.

Dear Jean
The boat looks really nice! congratulations.
Would be interesting to learn about the kind of issues you encountered.
6 months of burn-in period seems long...
