Hello,
I have a loose plan to sail from UK to Greece next year.
Will leave Uk in June and sail to either Spain or Gibralter, taking about 4 weeks and proably go with Rally portugal.
Leave Gertha in Gib area for a month or so.
Then sail Gib to Greeece and leave Gertha in Greece for winter.
Two things I need are a Marina in the West med near an airport for UK flights for July. Then a Marina in Greece for the winter again with air link to UK.

hi,

You can find a marina berth near Athens relatively easy. Two new marinas are almost ready and accepting visitor. All within an hour or so from the Athens airport. Kalamaki marina has a lot of space outside the water if this is what you prefer.
There is no actual winter season here. We sail until mid December and conditions in February are easy to handle. If you do not mind rain you can sail year round.

The trip down from UK to Spain will find you at the rias of NW Spain and if you can spare a few days they are well worth a visit. Good first stop is La Coruna and then for a stop near Gib l would recommend Alcaidesa Marina at La Linea which opened last year and an easy walk across the border to Gib airport with Flights from Monarch and Easyjet. We left our boat for a month and all was fine.

Good luck

Hi rtchina,
the panos talked about was the Kalamaki Marina. Another one, who is 30 minutes away from the airport is the Olympic Marina. I guess, these Marina is a little bit cheaper than, because she is on the eastside near Lavrion!

best regards

Hi,
There are more than 20 marinas in Athens area, all close to the airport.
I need more info to suggest one or two. The one I keep my boat is huge and accepts visitors only if there are vacancies. But there are new marinas like Flisvos marina which have place.

I'm in Aktio at the moment but live in Vienna so there are not so many direct flights. I could get more use from the boat if it were close to good international airport. Athens would be good, but pretty expensive in that area I would imagine.

I only made it half way in 2012, so looking for inspiration for Greece in 2013.
Will proably arive in May and looking for a berth for 12 months, close to an airport with links to UK, safe , cheap and access to islands as should be able to grab a couple of months off to sail the area in the 12 month period.
I am sure I am asking for to much but have to start somewhere

In England we have pubs; as a chalange a few locals are flying to Skyatos.
i have the task of sailing Almerimar( Spain) to a bit of Greece.
If anyone has a two or three weeks holiday and fancies to crew a blast across the med in May or June that would be handy.
Any advise on best route would be handy; but I am guesing it will be suck it and see with the wind.
Last problem a marina in Greece for next winter within strike of an airport and Skiatos

How about Corfu, Marina Gouvia? Very well protected also in winter. Charter flights in winter might be difficult. Last one out about mid October. You could go around the Peloponnes and doing the Cyclades before the big Meltemi starts and then going back to the Ionian by the Corinth channel. (That's what we did last season and gonna do again in 214).I have a very reliable boatbuilder (Austrian) looking after our boat and doing repairs. Give me a PM if interested.
