Has anyone updated their Quick Anchor Remote to a Quick Anchor Remote with chain counter?
Does the standard 1000W windlass have a built-in chain counter sensor?

Surprized to hear that 460s don't come standard with chain counting model of that remote, but it should be easy upgrade, and the sensor, if not exists, is easy to source. Check your bag with the manuals, a spare sensor could be there as it does in 458s.

I also have the remote with chain counter.
I also decided it would be useful to be able to control the windlass from the cockpit, especially for med mooring solo. I experimented with 4WD wireless remotes which had worked well on my 385 but failed frequently on the 458 where I am usually anchoring at least once a day with much longer scope. In the end I mounted the wired remote into the starboard rope bin so I can see the chain length and control the windlass from the cockpit. This required some creative wiring as the cable for the chain counter does not come back to the powerboard from the bow locker. I also installed foot switches at the bow. This arrangement works well for minimal cost. There is a thread with pictures somewhere if you search.

I did the upgrade and it is straight forward.I did have to change the socket from a 3 pin to 5 pin.Do not dispose of your old hand held because if your sensor breaks down you can plug in old hand held and the windlass will work with out the sensor.

The Quick Chain Counter remote comes with the following items.
Looks like a fairly straightforward upgrade. ![]() |

We replaced our with the controller /chain counter on your picture for our Hanse 460. It fit right out of the box. No need to install anything. Clearly the magnet and cabling was there in the windlass from the factory. They just saved some euro on shipping the boat with a controller without display.
