Hi Sailkoop,
I have recently bought a 540e with a few items to be fixed. Leaking Stb Fuel tank, Hull Windows loose and through hull fittings/seacocks  i do not like the look of… some seized.  I want to replace them. - Noticed in yr website you replace with NZ made Polycarb models. Appcte to hear yr comments if possible as against proper bronze fittings (not sure what the Hanse fitted fittings are).  I have been provided by Hanse with new Hull windows from Lewmar but will need to arrange fitting here in Croatia (I  am Australian but living at moment in Croatia - Boat in Split) - Also would appreciate if you have the contact for yr Croatian sailmaker who made your new Lazy bag - Mine also needs replacing mainly due to being too short and also almost impossible to close zip with height of boom on 540.  Would appcte to hear - Kind regards

Hi Shipman,
Congratulation for your Boat. You'll love it when the "small" things are gone ...
To your Questions, I am using Trudesign and I love it!!!! I also change the thruhull Fittings, so no metall any more under Water. I only can provide you, do it in the same Way and you will sleep a lot better, equal which stupid Staff Hanse had build into.
The Windows was exchange by the German Hanse dealer which send two Persons and they need one Day. All was free of charge. May you get a Chance... The Hanse Dealer for Croatia is based in Kastrella in the NW of Split. Its a nice Team. May, they can help you.
The Sailmaker which done my Lasyjacks was Dustom Sails. The Contact pérson called Ivan. He is nice, but you have to negogiate to get a good Price. Be aware, he come two times to my Boat because the first Time thenLasyback was not wide enough. If you call the Name of my Boat and the Typ, I believe he will remember!

Good luck and enjoy your time on the Boat.
best regards

Bjoern

I'm having my lazy bag redone presently. They do it all. I do nothing ( I am at 7000 miles from the boat anyway ) the cost is 900 € installation included madi with "Sunbrella fabric" they want to double the fabric with inside liner 180€ more haven't decided yet know nobody who has done it.

Delta Voile is doing it.

Dear Shipman, if you want to do a replacement by a Croatian shipyard I would be very careful. You say you have your boat in Split; if it is the marina Kastela and the shiphard of the marina I could definitly NOT recommend it. I heard rumours of even cheating with work and asking astronomical prices. On my boat they this shipyard wanted to convince me that I had a probable delamination issue on the front porthole. This is now 3 years ago and the windows were replaced in 2013 by a very good Greek boatbuilder at Gouvia marina. There was no issue what so ever about delaminaton.

I totale agree with tobo. If you want to go to a Shipyard, go to Primosten in the Kremik Marina. The Owner of the Yard called Sam and he works correct. If you want a number send me a PM.
best regards

Why you buy boats with portholes in the hull? You support this builders who don't give a sh*t about safety. I'm looking now for a boat for cruising around the world and honestly I was thinking about Hanse, but I can't find normal boat from mainstream builders, only racing Sun Fast 3600 almost perfect for my needs but doesn't have a comfort I need.
Don't you think that you could hit a huge wood or container while sailing at night? I see now tons of builders just make a hit installing this windows in the hull, if they will install windows on the bottom of the hull you'll still buy this kind boats?

Oh, bottom portlights would be fantastic, comrade, kids will certainly love 'em! I remember when we sailed on Lagoon 450 in Thailand with glass hatches (almost) on the bottom of the cabins, kids spent hours watching the fish.
Every design has its limits. At least most of Hanse boats are still going strong in 25knots breeze when the likes of Hugo Boss foiling spaceships are dismasted while hove-to. There are no portlights on that IMOCA thought.

Anyone know if this is an issue with the 461? Or limited to the 470. Thanks.

Not on the 461/531 since they have different construction of windows. They have GEBO Aluminium framed windows.

Think the 461 is a newer model and thus anything produce post the 470 won't have this issue. Not naming any names of the product used by Hanse, Beneteau & Jenneau and possibly others, but I'm sure the fault has long been rectified or a different method of fixing has been introduced by the factories !
