Hi all, thought I would post this as a warning to others who may have fitted a new engine in the past couple of years .
I fitted a new Volvo D1.30 engine in my 355 in March of 2020 and all was well until last year when it started to make intermittent rattling noises , by September it suddenly got a lot worse and on investigation it was found that the 6 bolts holding the drive plate to the flywheel had come completely undone causing damage to the drive plate and the saildrive. Fortunately this has now been repaired by Volvo under warranty including a complete new saildrive. From what I have learned from talking to the Volvo agent this is not the first one this has happened to although Volvo won’t admit this .

Thanks Morvoren , do you think it was an install issue rather then an engine issue. Our D1-30 has been very good for the 5 years we have owned our 355.

Think it was factory/engine issue , the drive plate bolts were never torqued up properly .
