Hi,

I am getting crazy to find the root cause...
Particularly after long close-hauled courses with stronger wind and waves against I am spotting seawater in the first compartment between achor box and fesh water tank box - underneath the bunk. Around 1 liter.
Not a root cause identified:
- deck hatch between mast and pulpit (fixed it with Elsatosil)
- fresh water tank
- log and echo sounder

I also not really consider the anchor box, the drain works.
What is your experience probably with the joint of deck and hull?

Best regards
Martin

If there is no dampness inside the bow cabin I suspect that the culprit is a leak from the very small and slow draining anchor locker.
I find ours blocks easily and have fitted a stainless grill inside the anchor locker to prevent leaves or anchor warp from blocking it.

The power cable for the bow nav light comes through anchor locker via a conduit on the LHS at the top. You probably have a bad seal into or around conduit especially if anchor locker is filling up in lumpy conditions.

It helps if you can fully stow your anchor chain and warp and get a semi seal on the locker hatch.

If you have damp in the forecabin  check the seal of the pulpit to the deck as this can leak.
Water will drip off the bolt head and run  down the back of the side panels. You will have a wet mattress!

Hi Martin

I think Steve has covered the key points.

I had a similar issue with my 400e (since sold). A tiny about of sea water would trickle down the wooden panel surrounding the fore cabin berth whenever I had been in any sort of heavy sea.

I eventually found that the cause was the lack of a sealant on the cable exit/entry into the pulpit navigation lights. A small amount of sealant fixed a long running problem.

Good luck!

Had the same issue on my 400, and this issue has been well covered on the forum. Found it was the seam/join inside anchor locker where rear bulkhead of anchor locker meets flange from deck. If you look inside locker and up to corners at the back you will see some very rough glass transition between the two. When sailing healed this corner become a low point and the water in anchor locker works its way into the gap and into the interior. No leaks in the marina as boat sits flat and water cant get to this point.

Cheap fix is to push Caulking into the gap, the best fix is to tidy up the sh*tty glass edges with osculating multi tool and run small piece of fiberglass cloth over the join and glass it. Once i did mine no leaks since.

Hi Steve, Richard and Stephen,

I am overwhelmed by your quick help and advice! Many thanks for this, I will check anchor locker and pulpit / cable connections.

Enjoy sailing!

I had the same problem with my 292. The hull-deck connection was leaking (only by stronger wind and waves).
You can check it:
- seal the drain in the anchor locker
- fill the anchor box with water to the top
- check inside where the water is leaking

You can remove the ceiling panels inside before checking. I sealed the corners inside and outside with Sikka. After that it was dry.

The 292/300/301 has no space under the anchor locker. At boats > 341 there is space under the anchor locker. The water cannot run from the anchor lock drain into the interior of the ship.

The problem is the corner anchor locker hull-deck connection(port and starboard). Most 300s do not have a proper seal with Sika.

At rough water, the water comes over the corner of the hull-deck connection under the mattress in the foredeck or in the storage compartment under the mattress. See picture.

I removed the old Sikka in the corners and resealed everything from both sides (inside and outside). You have to remove the ceiling panel. The cable to the bow light is also a weak point.
I used a milling head in a cordless screwdriver.
