Hi, has anybody replaced a winch (or the winches) on a 388 or 385 and upgraded from the 40-size to any bigger?
Or else, has anybody upgraded to an electric winch after sales? I experience high loads and follow the opinion of the test journalists who question if the 40s are maybe a bit too small for this size of boat, and am therefore considering upgrading at least the starboard side winch. Looking for experiences here. |

Bonjour sur mon 385 J'ai remplacé les winchs d'origine par la taille supérieure le tribord a été monté en électrique et les winchs d'origine ont été installés sur une platine en avant pour manœuvrer un genaker l installation est facile seul le montage du moteur électrique a demandé une petite personne pour aller dans le coffre 😂

Always felt happy with the winch sizes in both 385 and 458.
Did n't feel a need for electric on the 385 but (15 years on) glad to have one for the main halyard on the 458 with the significantly larger sail.
