I'm planning to install a solar panel (ex. Sunbeam system Tough 76 w Flush) on top of the garage. But what is the easiest way/rute down to the batteries for the wires on my Hanse 400E from 2007?

Hi.
Is the garage same than arch? I have an arch ( frame made of 50mm stainless steel pipes) at the back of my boat, On the Arch I have radar and two panels. All wires go inside of the arch (pipe) into the hull. Then shortest way via regulator to batteries.

Good day

I just finished installing solar on my 2007 Hanse 400e this past spring and would be happy to help, but not sure what “the garage” is.

A photo showing where you’re planning on installing would be great.
Also, are you talking about how to get the wires down into the hull or how to route them to the batteries / nav station? That’s where I installed my controller.

regards,

Carlos & Maria

I think the garage might be the cover for the companionway hatch, just ahead of the sprayhood.
I installed my 100W solar panel there on my 385.
I routed the cable forward into the ridge that supports the sprayhood track and then into the roof lining to port, then through the heads ceiling void to the area adjacent to the shower and forward to the main navigation panel and battery.
I did need to remove the "garage" cover to do this.  It made a very neat installation with virtually no cables exposed on deck.
I have no idea if this is feasible on a 400, but if you search I have previously posted pics on another thread on the forum.

Hi All
I have attached a picture to explain the future location of the solar panel.

Search for "solar' in the 415 forum.
You should find this https://myhanse.com/solar-panels-on-hatch-garage_topic11343_page2.html in which I describe my solution with some pictures.

Jesper, on my 400 from 2006 i drilled a hole for the cable close to the ventilator on the port side. Remove the panels before drilling. Then routed it in the corner between head and roof behind the nav station. From the roof down to the instrument looker I used a normal self- adhesive cable conduit from local hardware store. This is the shortest way from the garage to the batteries. Be sure to use a watertight cable gland and use 6mm2 cables or bigger.
