Hi all,
I have filled up the fresh water tank on my H458 but the digital display on the Wurth Panel reads 37%. I have turned power on and off but it remains at 37%. How do you recalibrate the sensor to read 100%, there was no manual for the sensor in our boat pack. Thanks and Merry Christmas Dave |

The original sensors on 458 are voltage based (I wired them in parallel to GX Tank Monitor 140 to transmit the data online) I think 100% filled water/diesel is 3.9V or close to it. The first thing to check is the actual voltage that the sensor sends to the display panel, (wiring at the back of the panel can be easily seen), 37% would corresponds to 3.9*0.37=1.44V and 100% is 3.9V, so maybe its a display problem and not the sensor.
Cheers!

Unlikely that this is a voltage based sensor. Most likely your sensor does not work
Most marine fluid level sensors are measuring resistance, fed by 12 V. Tank empty 0 Ohm ( sometimes 30 Ohm ) Tank full 180 Ohm valid for fresh water, fuel. If your fuel readings are correct on the Würth panel, the you need to replace the crappy cheapo level arm sensor which Hanse installs by a magnetic rod sensor. ( there are numerous post here in the Forum ). Remove the two pin plug at the panel and measure the resistance. These mechanical arm s work in cars with bumps but always get stuck in a boat fuel tank Only for black water tanks magnetic rod sensors are the other way round ( full is o Ohm, empty 180 Ohm ). However resistance sensors are totally unreliable for the s...t tank. Hanse installs in the newer contact less models, an acoustic sensor system measuring from the outside from Gobius, Sweden, which give these readings through a junction box, The third way for reliable black water readings are ultrasonic sensors. The principle is the same as the bumper beeper in your car. They need also a special converter box and monitor. |

Mine is voltage based, 458#80 production Jan 2020; the sensor wiring at the back of the panel shows zero resisance but voltage about 3.9V when tanks are full...Cheers!

How many wires are there connected to your sensor?

had issues with our water tank gauge sensor too..
Failed after six months on a new boat 😳.
The issues as others have indicated is the cheap sensor. Ours sticks at 67% frequently but then works ok for a few weeks before failing again. Replacing it is on the jobs list, although I suspect it’s life will be equally short lived. |
