Just cleaned the bottom and seeing it was a still day - thought these measurement may be useful to others.

461 with 75HP turbo Yanmar and 18" Flex-O-Fold Prop

1,500 revs - 5.5 knots

2,000 revs - 6.5 knots

2,500 revs - 7.5 knots

3,000 revs - 8.4 knots

3,500 revs (max) - 8.7 knots

Cheers

John,

is the flex-o-fold you have installed the standard prop which is supplied by Hanse?

Hi Shawn,

Yes - it was the one supplied.  IMHO opinion not as good in reverse as a Maxi Prop we had on a previous boat - but fine.

54 hp:

We got our boat in Juli 2005 and have not cleand the bottom yet.

2.800 revs: 7,8-7,9 knots

3.200 revs (Max) 8,5- 8,6  konts

I think the use of a 75 hp engine is when you are going by motor in heavy conditions - against the wind.

Does anyone know what fuel consumption I can expect to have with my new 461 with a 75 hp engine

Yup,

These are averages over a range of medium (ie not heavy) sea conditions but were all taken with our huge bimini erected.  I know with it folded so we reduce windage the 2000 rev consumption improves by 10%!

2000 revs - .9 litres per mile

2500 revs - 1.1 litre per mile

3000 revs - 1.5 litres per mile

We tend to motor-cruise at a 2,200 level as it feels as if the engine has a lot more torque than when at 2,000.  2,200 still keeps consumption around or less than 1 litre per mile.

We've also learnt on lengthy motoring passages to blip her up to 2,800 revs for ten minutes each two hours.  It helps prevent carbon build up on the turbo blades.

You'll find out that even in very light winds, hoisting at least a main and using the apparent wind created will add more than you think to  boat speed.  In these circumstances, we tend to take the extra speed and getting there quicker, as opposed to backing off on the revs.

Hope this helps.

JOHN
