I bought a new key switch, and the connections were quite simple. I was able to buy it from a online Yanmar Dealer/Service in the US last year. part number 127412-91250.

Thanks for reverting. That is a pity. I like the idea of introducing a perspex cover to protect the panel. Will come up with our own fix if necessary.
