Hello everyone
I do not know what the stern arch is called, to put solar panels and hold the dinghy. But I would like to ask in the forum if someone has done it and what model has been followed for its placement.
I would not like to make holes in the bathtub, or make as few as possible. And also not spoil the aerodynamics of the boat.
Let's see if I'm lucky and find someone who can and wants to help me.
Greetings to all!!Thumbs Up

Hi Majote - I'm having one made right now.  There is no standard 'pattern' and you should find someone who specialises in making them.  Ask to see other examples of their work; if they're good they should have an 'eye' for how the design should complement the lines of your boat.

I'd strongly suggest you think deeply about what effects you want to achieve and discuss this with the builder.  For me this was:

Create a 'cage' at the stern for greater security offshore in a seaway
Provide a platform for radar, solar panels and other aerials
Replace guard wires along both sides of the cockpit to the sprayhood with solid guard rails
Replace the removable guard wires across the transom with removable solid guard rails
Provide a much stronger frame for the cockpit tent

Unless you are mainly day-sailing from anchorage to anchorage, I would strongly advise you not to hang a dinghy from the back end as weight at the extreme ends has a significant effect on seaworthiness, speed and safety.  Everything is a compromise and its up the owner to decide where the balance lies; my choice suits my boat and my type of sailing but if you only sail in sheltered waters in calmer conditions you could quite safely choose differently.

My manufacturer integrated the arch into existing pushpit so no extra holes were drilled through the deck.  However, he seriously increased the strength of the backing plates below the deck.  The attached photo shows the uncompleted arch; guard rail extensions, panels etc still to be fitted.  However, it shows you how the builder has carried the natural curves of the boat into the design.

Good luck!

¡Muchas GRACIAS, Mataratas!
Agradezco tu post encarecidamente.
