Hi,
It registers some of my trips during the last months. To view them follow : Itineraries History

How did they register your positions, by radio traffic?

Hi,
I don't know.
Somebody (who and why I don't know) is probably receiving and saving the AIS information transmited by our boat and publishes them in internet.
I don't think that they are a govermental or european organization (since they have sponsors!)

It is cool , if you don't mind others to know where you have been. You can prove where you was!
Lucky you, you are still sailing (I can see now), I look through the window and see  snow! The last few days a gail. We have to wait untill spring (late march early april). Have fun.

It seems that some countries show the information and some not. i.E. close to the netherlands you see a lot cargos displayed. and the german northsee coast there is no cargo shown, but you can be sure there are a lot of cargos. May be that the big port authorities publish the AIS ships in the area.  Watch live map.
In Greece (Athen) there are many ships shown, maybe yours too. I am just wondering why yours is shown because as far as i see only big cargos and VVVEEEEERRRY big YACHTS are displayed on my screen. . May be you have AIS A but your boat should have Class BWink. Sorry panos, your boat is to SMAAAAAAALL for Class A

I have AIS type B, which is turned off when not sailing.
Also because the huge amount of ships around the Athens area,Simrad system becomes very slow and therefore sometimes I turn it off while sailing, especially after I pass the Traffic separation zone starting close to the harbor area and ending some 12  miles south east.
When I visit the boat I will turn it on to see how long it takes to register.

It's good to know your whereabouts, Panos. As being Vice Admiral I have to keep my Captains under supervision.

Your sailing waters look marvelous from above. I wish I could sail there some time. What's the weather like this time of year?

In the Netherlands, we have several people picking up the AIS-information and put on a website. Picking up is pretty easy with some minor modification to a hand heldp VHF. I did it myself too.
