Hi Guys,

Very strange year didn't get out much.

One of the dampers has seized it has the following information on it.

STOBO  -  assume manufacturer
4004109  -  assume part number
800N 03/07  -  assume rating and date of manufacture

Does anyone know of a replacement in the UK or Europe?

If a normal Web search doesn't show up a compatible strut, then I suggest you make some measurements.  The key dimensions (in mm) are cylinder diameter, piston diameter, closed length and fully extended.  You also need to note the end fitting thread size assuming you can unscrew the existing.  800N is the compression force in Newtons.

Stainless will be more expensive.  The default will be Nitride treated steel. https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gas-struts# in the UK is a place to start your supplier search.

Good luck.

Thanks guys,

I've gone to Struts Depot in London to see what they have.

Hanse.boatoon.com, doesn't seem to supply them any more and I've also a request with STOBO, see what they say - cheers

Hallo replace from other brands is available
But as always the steel rod when not stainless needs to have a clean once a month with a oil spayed cloth type 5-56 or similar
The rod is otherwise rusted and seal is damaged

Hope this helps

Hi Jon
The original and the replacement set delivered by Boatoon is from the German brand HAHN.

Thanks Chaps,

Gas spring shop (USA), suggests that the cylinder of the gas strut is 345mm when mine only measures 255mm, so a bit wary of buying the wrong product despite it saying it is the direct replacement.

I can't find that page on the Hahn web site do you have a link?

Jon
The link I sent you for sgs will get you stainless gas springs from a UK supplier in most of the sizes per Hahn.  It was stainless tension springs that they could not supply.
