Hello Forum,

my Hanse 312 buildt 2004 is equipped with the RPM meter
(picture attached) which also shows the engines operation hours.

Since some time the indicator of the RPM meter often remains on
200 RPM even though the engine is stopped.

The new fault now is the hour meter which only shows fragments of the digits.

So, I have to substitute the entire meter.

The data on the instrument are:

"Siemens VDO  trading Nr. 02 12 195   12 / 24 V"

VDO told me to contact Yamar. So I did. But the spare part they offer is quite expensive.

Has any one out there an additional idea where I could get such a spare part ?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

You can find them for ~400 $ on ebay.

Hi,
the blank LCD for the hour meter is a standard error. I'm in my second Hanse with Yanmar engine and both stopped to work after approx 8 years. I have a couple of friends with the same problem. However, there is a method to fix it if you are a "handy man". I attach the instruction how to do it.

Thanks to both of you.
I will try to repair the meter next month as described
in Jespers paper.

Will report about the results.

We have installed an external hour meter in the Cabin next to the electric panel. The rev counter works mostly correct.

Surprise, surprise,

before I followed the repair instruction I searched through the internet and
found a later post from the instructions editor. There he mentioned that
the hour meter after a while again was faulty.

What to do ?

This morning I dismounted the instrument and found an easy solution:

1. Loosen the 3 screws you can see on the back of the instrument
2. Before the screws come out pusch them in direction of the front glas
3.Through this the glas will come off and you can take the instrument out of
its housing.
4. Carefully take the white connector away from the pins on the plate (see picture)
5. Also take out the smal white plastic piece ( its the end of the cable ribbon) of the connector
6. Spray all the connections with a contact fluid
7. Put everything carefull together.
8. Do not use metal instruments to manipulate the electric parts

After this procedure my hour meter shows clear visible digits again.

Best regards

My hour counter (Yanmar Panel , 2006 315) works only in summertime LOL, whet the weather is dry. Now I decide to install (by my mechanic) a analogic hour counter inside the motor box, togheter a Emergency engine starter, if you lose or broke the key, or if the electric panel make default.

I installed it in the cabin/engine door side panel

If you have to change your RPM meter

You can buy any kind of diesel RPM meter
Even on e bay  ;-)

You plug in on the "W" of the alternator

Over and out
