Hej Vetnix.
Actually Biltema has no hour meter in any picture of the tacho.
Not even on the box my Biltema tacho came in.
I just found the box while cleaning my garage.

But in reality my tacho(25-8039) has a hour meter.

So you need to check it from the actual product on the shelf in Biltema.

Hej Borjebus,
I have got one for 599SEK (appr.60€)
The box has a window and shows the engine hour meter.
The manuel is a bit confusing. (both manels, webpage and box)
Without your knowledge I would not dare to bay it.
Thank you for all of it.
Mvh.

Hi all,

Previously I replaced the LCD hour meter (thanks to the forum !), works fine.

Recently the tachometer started working intermittently, and then stopped working entirely.

In order to not have any potential issues with generic tachometers from chandleries, I decided to buy a Yanmar unit (almost 300 Euro).

However, I can’t get it to work Confused
The new meter has 4 wires, the old one 5 (2x black)
Yanmar dealer saying they are connected inside the unit (probably just the  ‘minus’ wire).
They told me to set the pulse at 10.29, with the pushbuttons on the back, which I did.

The LCD display works, the background lighting works.
But the RPM needle doesn’t move.

When I turn the switch to ‘on’, I feel and see the needle vibrating for some 3 seconds, then it sits still.
When I turn the switch to start, I see and feel the needle vibrate again, but then it stops and stays at  ‘zero’.

The (original 60A Hitachi) alternator works, charges the batteries.

Anybody any idea about what could be the issue ?

This is a picture of the old and new unit.

To close my own thread.

I checked the alternator pulse output with a multimeter set on AC. Showed between 15-16 volts, I.e. then Knew alternator worked.

Then followed the orange wire.
Turns out the signal didn’t carry between the last black plug in the engine department and the next black plug near the engine switchboard.

Connected the tachometer directly with the alternator and it worked.

So, will run a new wire directly from the alternator to the tachometer.
Following the same path as the original wiring loom.

What i don’t understand (or like), is why 1 wire in a factory installed wiring loom became faulty. Makes me wonder about the other 7.

I followed the loom and couldn’t find obvious areas with chaff or other kind of wear.

Hello

I've got the same RPM pblm

Can you tell me which alternator output you checked and which one was the problem?

It’s the orange ‘pulse’ wire.
In case your alternator is the source of RPM input (which I would expect with 2004 engine).
If not the alternator, there should be a sensor on the flywheel (I have no experience with that but believe it’s the same logic, also orange wire coming from tachometer sender/sensor)

I followed the lead of this post on cruiserforum.
