We participated (unofficially because we have no certificate yet) to the Hydra race. The boat is very fast!!!! we finished between the thoroughbredsBig%20smileBig%20smileBig%20smile.

beating to the finish line. Wind 12 to 16 knots, speed 8.5 to 9.2 ,tacking angle about 85 degrees.
Competition (Jinetera-DK46) goes for the finish line.

Beautyful ship Panos.  The pictures show exactly the philosofy of Hanse.
Sailing  a 63 feet yacht with only 4 people, in competition with a racing yacht with 8 people on board.
(But I assume there was no downward or reaching leg with a spinaker)

I agree. In the pictures the boat looks very much like it's behaving like a dinghy despite its actual size.

I have always felt that about my own boat as well.

hi,
DK46 is 46 feet and had 12 on board. Upwind we were faster but due to the selftacking jib we sailed 1-2 degrees lower. We were 7 on board- two driving one hour each, two main trimmers and one trimming the jib and two girls pressing the main winch buttons. We beat them in tactics.
The first leg was downwind 18 to 24 knots wind (true)! We were 7 on board, but only 5 racing. We hoisted the code 1 and gibed in complete darkness several times. With four electric winches (provided all goes perfectly smooth) gybbing is a joke! but there is NO room for any mistake. The 630 is not for beginners.During the jib the boat MUST keep her speed to lower the apparent wind speed and its forces on the main, so the jybe must be done fast! With electric winches left and right both trimmers take the main sheet in using both winches-double speed-and both are releasing it after the gybe-to be sure.Driving at 150 to 170 degrees (true) wind angle we did 12 to 13 knots boat speed.
During the gybe the loosened main sheet zoomes across the deck and if not handled properly distroyes whatever is in its way!!!

Hi,

This Friday we arranged for MMBW Nicole to be weighted and measured for IRC certification.
Hopefully we get a good value ( between 1.28 and 1.29 is great).
