hi, I want to buy my first sailboat and I came to the conclusion that Hanse sailboats are really good ships. Hanse 312, Beneteau Océanis 323, Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 32 have similar prices. Hanse vs french sailboats what's you feeling please? thanks for your help. ar. Edited by alain5 |

alain5, This is the wrong place to ask such a question. All on here are Hanse devotees. I went arouond a 312 at last years Hamburg Boat Show and thought it a very nice boat for its size. Well priced too. However, a new 32' Sun Odyssey has just moved onto our pontoon at my local marina and I am very impressed by the finish. Very nice looking boat. I emphasize that I have not sailed her or asked the owner how much she was (she has a lot of 'extras') but I will first time we have a whisky or two together. Go to the shows and make your choice based on your needs. Believe it or not, a big factor in my choosing a Hanse 341 was because of the standing height throughout the boat. Whatever you choose - enjoy. |

franko, thanks for your reply. really. I know my post is a bit off topic but it's important for me to read miscellanous feelings. There's no such a cool forum for beneteau or jeanneau owners. that's a shame c'est la vie. another good reason to buy an hanse. And I want to understand WHY your are hanse devotees. hey you're right, wisky is good for sailors. ar. Edited by alain5 |

Alain, There is also a brand new Bavaria 32 in my marina. Also looks very nice on the outside (I haven't been below decks). Seldén In Mast reefing main. Many people are critical of the Bavaria build quality, but I have crossed the North Sea twice in a Bavaria (40) without being in fear for my life. If I was after performance I would look seriously at the new Bavaria 'Match' series. I know a very serious sailor who lives near me who has bought one this year (35 foot) He is very happy. Races it regularly. It was also, as most things in life, a compromise. He had a wife & two kids to please also. You say quality of the 'stock' sails are important. I can only say that mine (Doyle) are rubbish. Others on MyHanse also have commented on the sails. North I think. Guess you don't have to take the stock sails - order something better. Enjoy Slainthè / Santé |

On yacht.de there is also a forum. Maybe you should search for Bavaria 32 or just ask RalfT about his experiance about a new Bavaria 32. He is now a happy owner of a 341 !!!! Beside all the emotional arguments for Hanse there was also the second hand market for Hanse which was also an important point. If you look at Bav or Beneteau or Jeanneau there are a lot of boats from Charter Companies for sale which makes it more difficult to get a good price. About the sails: The North-Sails from Hanse are not so bad. If you don't want to use them, you get hardly any money back from them. Different sails are nearly 100% extra costs. That's why I took my self tacking jib from Hanse and although I don't want to use it. Now I'm going to sell it. Regards Thomas. |

Ralf-T, thats me. Yes I had some experiences with Bavaria but I signed a contract in which I promised to keep in silence in the public. But in private chats its no problem to inform. So, if anyone needs information... Last summer I also looked to some french ships like the new Beneteau Oceanis 323. Nice ship but with length of 1,90m I had problems. And there were some things on deck I didn't like. As I saw the Hanse 341 first time I knew that I found my ship. I think a lot of this decision should ruled by the heart without forgetting the head. |

Alain, its not possible to see in which country you are located. But in the newest German Sailing Magazine, the YACHT there is a competetive test between Hanse 341, Bavaria 32, Catalina 320, Beneteau 323. The Hanse the best in a lot of categories, she not free of faults but in generally its a fine boat to a fair price. First information find here: http://www.yacht.de/yo/yo_news/powerslave,id,3086,nodeid,50. html Regards Ralf |

When I was looking at boats I also looked at the following: Catalina 310, 320 / Beneteau 311, 321 / Jeanneau 32 / I did not waste my time with Hunter since they are true garbage. The Catalina's are ok but not that well made. The The Jeanneau looked really nice and I wanted to buy it. But......there is only 1 wench on the house and there are no locations to put more wenches in the cockpit for your spinnaker. Also, the keel seemed a bit light. And it cost about $15,000 more than the Hanse 311. So I picked the Hanse 311. I liked the self tacking jib and it is very well made. Minus a few headaches I have been happy with it. I took it out a few days ago in 20-30 knot winds and 4-8 foot seas and it performed well. With a double reef in the main and only 75% of my jib unfurled I hit 7.5 knots on a beam reach. My new sails will show up in a few weeks and I will have a folding prop put on. This will give me a bit more speed. I had it rated and my PHRF rating is 156. Bottom line.............I would buy the Hanse or if not then the Bavaria.

hi, Thanks for all those contributions. I'm located in the south of France in TOULOUSE. For Océanis the displacements are very close to the equivalent sized Hanse and the sails are bigger. Océanis 373: 6600 kgs / 35.8 m2+ 31.2m2 Hanse 371: 5950kgs / 28.5m2 + 38m2 Océanis 343: / 00.00 m2+ 00.00 m2 Hanse 341: 5390kgs / 21m2 + 33.5m2 Océanis 323: 3837 kgs / 22.4 m2+ 28.3m2 Hanse 312: 4090 kgs / 16m2 + 27m2 Hanse 300: 3250kgs / 13m2 + 26 m2 sail surface for standart sailboat -----> Océanis: genoa / main sail and Hanse: jib / main sail. Alain.
