Hello All,
I ordered my new 400 with a standard propellor, allthough I always sailed with a Gori, on a Grinde, Dynamic 37, and a Bianca 107 due to the displacement of the boats, never more than 6 tons. The Hanse 400 will probably be a little less than 10 tons with filled tanks and all gear, and I cannot believe that the 40 cm2 of the blades influence the speed of the boat. Did any of you experience the difference?
Thanks in advance...

I guess I'll add to the selections here. I have a Flex-o-fold 3 blade which I like. Easy to dismantel and clean and seems to work well. Your real question though is weather it is necessary. I have been told by some knowledgable sailor friends that I would get better engine performance with a fixed blade prop and the amount of drag is minimual. Since I have never had anything but a foldable prop, I really can't verify this. I think the selection may be your use of the boat. If it is for cuising, I would do a fixed prop. If you plan to race, I believe everyone would say go with one of the better folding props for the extra 0.1 Knot speed advantage. Mike

There is a similar 400 in our harbour, I'll check his propellor. Hope it's a foulding one. As soon as possible we'll compare the behavior of the boats.
Then I will report to you all.
Thanks for the support so far!

O, forgot the mention, Bodo's 400 has the old keel and the standard North cloths called sails.
Very curious how your boat will perform with the T-keel and you also have better quality sails?? Rob |

If you are in doubt if a folding propellor has advantages I suggest that you read the test from the yachting monthly via below link. It is very interesting.
