Hello,
I believe the 46/7 has a sexy boom light as an option. I wish to install said piece on a 37, any clues on how it fits , who makes it and how the wire gets around goose neck appreciated. Simon |

I have the above mentioned light, but it wasn't on the boat as standard and Dave from Aztec Marine retro fitted it. The fitting is nothing special at all, just a low profile fitting screwed into the boom and at the gooseneck it exits the boom on a connector which can be disconnected and then enters the mast via a little hole with a grommet.
It really would be a simple job to add one. I'm going to try and go down this weekend and if I do I'll take a couple of pic that may help. Regards David 461#028 |

Hi Simon,
We also have one and ours was the factory option.
As David explains - it is nothing special. Aluminium round holder for a MR16 halogen globe fitted into a hole drilled into base of boom.
The power lead exits the boom before the gooseneck and 2 pin screwed plug into the mast.
One suggestion before you fit is to swamp the rear wiring / connections with liquid plastic - the kind of stuff that will insulate. We find the hole drilled to recess the lamp into the boom acts as a drain hole for just about all water coming from inside - and unprotected - we found our globes / connections eventually corroding.
Cheers
JOHN

Hi,
I have also LED boom lights on my boat. (3 sets of 3 LED's each. They are very powerful and very easy to install. Since they are flush (surface) mounted you just need one hole for the cable and two small ones for the screws. Since I was concerned that after a while one gets destroyed I got a spare which I photographed: general view ![]() detail on brochure ![]() specs ![]() Edited by panos - 14 February 2009 at 09:43 |

There is in fact a sexy LED lightning bar that fits into the boom. (Doesn't get damaged if booms touches the waves ) Can't tell you the brand, it's on the boat. Cabeling goes through the boom with a plug on the mast, probably preinstalled as there is already a switch on the board. (at least on a 470) Upsy Daisy haven't seen Panos pro comment; he knows everything. That's the one I meant. Update: Now it's mounted. But it needed some work with the angle grinder to fit it into the slot(Uf!) Edited by tobo - 01 May 2009 at 14:34 |

The web site for the manufacturer of theses 1 watt bars is
They are also available I see in a 3 watt version so perhaps instead or 3 bars of 1 watt LEDs that Panos has installed a better alternative would be to put in 1 x 3 watt white and 1 x 3 watt red. A dimmer may be a good option too for the red lights at least.
The following list provides the distrubuters in each country though I suspect that they are not available in Australia (and perhaps elsewhere) as they are not listed on the whitworths website.
