I am thinking of buying a 301 as I have read favourable reports on this site.
However I am concerned as to the light weather performance and am wondering If fitting a sail rig from a 415 would improve it. Has anyone done this ? And could you give me any tips as to how to do it |

I checked the calander too.
I would say that fit a mast from 415 to a 301 is a joke. You canīt take all that weight on a 301, you would tip over in light winds. You cant even have a mast from 320. |

I had thought that I could fit an outrigger to improve stability, but that would make marina costs prohibitive
And going everywhere on a port tack difficult. My latest plan is to fit a 125 hp engine that would gives entry of ballast in the right place I also calculate that it should give me a cruising speed under power of 32 knots This would mean that I could make a passage from Barmouth to Dublin in 3 hours saling or motoring This would give me lots of Guinness dr,nuking time. |

Yeah, If you look around there is possibly a keel off one of the old america's cup boats that you glue on the bottom, good luck!

The first scetches are done:
before relaunch ![]() after relaunch ![]() BTW. I also inflated the hull a little bit. this way the 301 has much more space inside, but you only have to pay for the size of a Hanse 301 as you pay by length in most harbours.... ![]() Edited by Peter-Blake - 26 March 2012 at 10:13 |

As far as I know the 301 is the only Hanse with a wing keel so with a few more horsepowers you could fly across the Irish Sea. Good luck!
