What I understud its not clear how the multimedia part of gb40 will work for now. I have seen speakers installed to the right of the engine control resp. left to the VHF. I have ordered a cockpit tent wich will end in the area of the engine control, so Wendel & Rados will install the speakers somewhat closer to the middle of the cockpit, but I understud it is not easy. I will install sonos www.sonos.com a multiroom system conected with an external LAN disk 500GB

That sounds like a great solution - thanks for the input.
I was thinking in 12v terms, hence the Bose AC3 (runs without 220v).
But you inspired me, so i am interested to learn more about your solution.
Are you getting a converter for the whole 220v system or just for the entertainment?
How do you solve the TV areal?
What are WR charging for the entertainment installation?
(I am thinking maybe to sail back to Greifswald an have them sort me out)
Thanks in advance.
PS. You should check my post in the Halyard discussion. There is a problem on most 470 on this point. Easyer to fix before you get your mast on. Edited by pearl - 08 May 2008 at 11:43 |

I ordered the Fischer Panda from Hanse ande a 2000W Mastervolt inverter from WR. My setup with Sonos is new to WR, however they have a number of solutions based on Bose systems.
Sonos is easy to install, you need 220V and a internet conection with the first player. Wireless internet WR charge around 2000 €, the same for the Mirage speakers. Its not cheap but WR is doing a good job I think. If of intresst, send me your mailadress, I can mail you WR pricelist for electronics extras for the 470.

I spoke to Navico to day. With the Navico DVD you can control DVD via OP30. If you put a USB stick with MP3 files into the system, you can copy the MP3 files to the GB40, and control MP3 play via OP30. You must connect an amplifyer via the supplied cables.
I am thinking of using the GB40 for cocpit speakers, and install a parallel soundsystem in the Saloon (Sonos, Apple TV or Car stereo). Will keep you updated on how this works.

Hi,
I also ordered the GB40 but since it is untested I didn't want to load it with heavy tasks just in case. I also ordered the TV in main salon from Hanse. The sound system I will order from WR so I am very interested on your solutions and comments. My wife loves music and the listening levels are driving most systems in red. I would prefer to go for a 230V system - I have an 2000VA inverter installed . The cockpit speakers are a problem. Any suggestions?

Hi
I have my GB 40 installed as shown on the picture by the local dealer. But it does not look professional especially the handset. Does anybody have a better sample? So I can modify mine.
Ozturk
Thanks
Enjoy sailing
