Dave
Therefore the blue pigment gives a better balast ratio giving us a better pointing angle and better up wind performance. (and we stand out in the crowd) Ken

Tiller or steering wheel.
I have a Hanse 341 with a tiller, but plays with the idea of installing a steering wheel. So what is the best? |

@Holby
Thank you Dave - Yeah I am still crazy with the grey colour ![]() ![]() @ Agathe Ulrik, my first choice would be tiller steering, but (as some discussions at this forum indicate) it might be just as important that the combination of rudder design and tiller / wheel is the right one. The two apparently need different rudder designs to work optimally. Especially the position of the rudder stock seems important as tiller steering (probably) requires a more balanced rudder than wheel stering or it tends to get too hard to steer. (Take a look under the 320 section). That said, I am in fact quite happy with my own wheel stering especially when motoring. Ole, |

Hi Johan,
Haven't spoken to you since you were out here. We really enjoyed meeting you and Cristal and it was a fun day of sailing. Speaking of tides, we had a 5.7 kt Ebb last Saturday. We sailed 11 miles from Berkeley to Sausalito in 12 kts of wind in an hour and 20 minutes (dock to dock). If we were going against that tide it would have been a long trip.

Christel and I had a wonderful time in your company, Gary. Thank you very much for having us. It was also very interesting to steer your boat. She felt the same as mine if you take away the fact that you have a wheel. The tides were also very interesting to familiarize with. I am currently working on my pictures from the trip. I'll let you know when I am finished. Johan |
